Our national championship demands more. More precision. More resilience. More greatness. Experience the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club this June.
Charlie Kirk, a name synonymous with having the courage to speak what you believe and seek/welcome conversations with those whom you disagree with.
Im not a political person but I am a proud American citizen and today was startling, saddening, and maddening all at the same time.. I’ve realized that I’m a bit naive to how crazy it all has become but watching a man get hunted and slayed in broad daylight because of his opinions made me disgusted and devastated.
This can’t be what we actually are or become as a country.. I believe that the good people will always outnumber the evil people but damn… today was an alarming day in our country’s history.
2 kids lost a dad.. a wife lost a husband.. and societal discourse lost a voice.
RIP @charliekirk11.. I send my prayers, thoughts, and love to his family and friends.
The soul of Pinehurst can certainly be measured by milestones like the U.S. Open.
But it is found - and rekindled - every morning. This is how: https://t.co/ITtqQqsMGZ
"When you play Pebble Beach, you have to play shots."
Scottie Scheffler spent nearly five minutes praising Pebble Beach's architecture and what makes it such an iconic course. 👇
Numbers - especially smaller, lower ones - matter at Pinehurst. For a few blistering moments, a local favorite flirted with adding to his local lore: https://t.co/GC7lzRX4nX
Making your first TOUR start is special.
Making your first TOUR start, at a major, in your hometown, in front of family and friends?!
Pinehurst native @McGooberish is living the dream this week @USOpenGolf 👏
A 33-year-old mini-tour player is making his first Major Championship start this week.
And it's an incredible story.
Michael McGowan grew up in the Pinehurst area. Growing up - he played golf at Pine Needles.
He played collegiate golf at North Carolina - he's qualified for four U.S. Ams.
But golf is damn hard. He has never played a PGA Tour event.
His most recent PGA Tour-affiliated events were on the Latin America Tour in 2023. He missed the cut in all three events.
His mom played at North Carolina. His dad played on the PGA Tour with two wins.
His grandmother is in the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Michael still lives in the Pinehurst area.
And this week, he is hitting the first tee shot on Thursday morning - in his hometown.
In a U.S. Open.
This is why I love the U.S. Open - the storylines.
Golf is the best sport on the planet - this story doesn't happen in any other sport.
Shoutout to @GeoffShac for pointing this out in his newsletter. The best newsletter during a major week.
