Throwback to Trimester 3 when @HuffordD86 students tested new cordless microscopes, enjoying the ability to learn from anywhere. We are excited to see them explore and learn more starting in a few weeks!
Mrs. Ledesma’s 6th Grade Academy students @WashingtonD86 are putting their knowledge of potential and kinetic energy to the test by building rollercoasters.
Mrs. Grygiel’s 8th Grade students @GompersD86 combined their artistic skills and science knowledge by drawing and identifying levels of organization within an ecosystem.
8th Grade students @GompersD86 applied their knowledge of adaptations by building animals that would thrive in a friendly food collection competition. They also had the opportunity to explore frogs and their adaptations that allow them to thrive in water.
7th Grade Science students @DirksenD86 completed their unit about biomes by researching the lifestyle of species that inhabit specific areas. They did a fantastic job explaining what they learned through posters, brochures or Google slides. #D86Curriculum
We are extremely proud of our Junior High Science Fair participants! They did such an amazing job that we ran out of Gold stickers!
Thank you to all of our visitors who participated at our demonstration tables. We can’t wait to see you again next year! @JolietSD86
Ms. Lancman and Ms. Alvarado @SandburgD86 were just as excited as their 4th grade students to explore the pig’s heart. Their students loved seeing their teachers’ excitement and curiosity match their own. #D86Curriculum
Ms. Ledesma’s @WashingtonD86 science students had the opportunity to speak with Lunar Trailblazer scientist Jasper Miura via Zoom, discussing the history of and current lunar water exploration on the Moon. #D86Curriculum

@ThigpenD86 4th Grade teachers did a phenomenal job immersing their students in the dissection process. They took the idea to “heart” (pun intended) and showed the connection between ELA and Science through use of The Circulatory Story. #D86Curriculum
Our “See What Others Don’t With a Microscope” PD was a success! They found living organisms in pond water and viewed prepared slides as well as their own hair! Elementary teachers are excited to show their students all the things they can view up close. #D86Curriculum
Our JH #Robotics Coaches explored our new mBot robots. They are excited to show their students all of their programmable features to prepare them for our Spring competition. #D86Curriculum@GompersD86@HuffordD86
