A few months ago, if someone told me music royalties would become an onchain asset, I'd probably have laughed at them

A few days ago, @injective helped make it happen

"Something Special" by Khalid and Ahn Hyo-seop is becoming the first fan-owned single on Injective through Fandom

And I don't think people fully realize how much we've needed something like this

For decades, fans have been the literal backbone the music industry

Without the fans streaming songs millions of times, sharing them online, buying tickets, building communities, and turning artists into global stars, there wouldn’t be a music industry

Yet despite contributing so much to a song's success, they never had any economic benefit from it

All that changes now

Instead of simply listening to a song, fans can gain ownership rights tied to a portion of its future royalty income

Not the copyright, not the recording
The royalty stream itself

So as the song generates revenue, holders gain a share of that performance, with distributions handled transparently onchain

When I first joined @injective, I was completely lost

It was the first project I had ever worked on in crypto, and I barely understood what I was talking about half the time 😂

Most of my content was just me finding what other people had written, trying to understand it, then asking ChatGPT to help me turn it into a tweet

I was what you call a complete noob lol

One of the creators who genuinely helped change that for me was @devendyyy
