EVGA Sent a shipment to Scan. It arrives in the UK, Customs look at it and decide there's VAT/Customs charges 1/2

You were given an ETA. The E stands for Estimate.
Look it up in the dictionary.

Now, Customs can take however long they want to do this, because it's what they do. And they'll likely do it to several shipments to Scan that are all arriving in Customs are the same time.
