What was empty fields 20 yrs ago is now home to more than 70,000 people. If Waverley West was a standalone community, it would be the second-largest city in Manitoba. But until now, it hasn't had any community-owned rec facilities. We're changing that.
We’re getting ready to build the new South Winnipeg Recreation Campus! A gym, fitness area, and kitchen are just some of the amenities it will have. Construction crews are already on site with work starting very soon. Check out what it will look like: https://t.co/qBtLMRs5J3
A record-breaking $37.2 million worth of cocaine, methamphetamine and fentanyl was removed from Canadian streets following an interprovincial drug bust, according to Winnipeg police. Vasilios Bellos reports. https://t.co/pKYFbCaFJj
Great work by WPS and partners on this bust. Choking off the drug supply and holding dealers, distributors and manufacturers to account is critical to cleaning up our streets.
A two-year interprovincial organized crime investigation has resulted in the largest illicit drug seizure in Manitoba history.
Through the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, investigators seized:
• 339 kg of methamphetamine
• 175 kg of cocaine
• 11.25 kg of fentanyl
• 14 firearms
• Approximately $825,000 in currency
Thirty-three individuals were arrested in connection with the investigation.
Organized crime networks do not recognize jurisdictional boundaries.
Investigations of this scale are only possible through intelligence-sharing, coordinated enforcement, and strong partnerships between agencies working toward one shared goal: safer communities.
Every kilogram seized represents potential harm prevented.

Cities don't drift into greatness. They choose the hard work. I have relentless hope — because I know what Winnipeggers are capable of. Our best days are still ahead.
The transit changes were big, and we know they haven't been easy for everyone. We're still listening and improving. But the new system was built for the city we're becoming — one where light rail is the next conversation.

1,000+ downtown residential units approved in 2025 — the highest single-year total on record.
More residents means more safety, more small businesses, more life. Investors are choosing downtown Winnipeg.
Nearly 1,000 high-risk arrests. Bail reform moving through Parliament. 100+ bail violation arrests since December. Downtown crime down 10%. Homicides down more than half from the 2022 peak. Action, not talk.
