He excelled in the Army working his way up to Sergeant and serving as a Green Beret member of Command and Control, North, 5th Special Forces Group. His last mission was being sent with a Recon Team to the Ho Chi Mihn Trail - a mission that would cost him his life, and over 50 years later his family is still trying to bring him home. THE HAAF FAMILY NEEDS YOUR HELP

One of the men who killed @MinneapolisPD Officer Jerome (Jerry) Haaf, Amwati Pepi Mckkenzie #155221, is once again eligible for parole. Sadly the Haaf family must once again fight for Jerry to ensure that this man pays the price for taking the life of their loved one and that of a Police Officer. On May 13th, 2025, Mr. Paul Schnell, Commissioner of the Department of Corrections will be holding a parole hearing for Mckenzie.

Coming up next week on the podcast we'll go back to 1978 in NW Minnesota to the border county of Roseau. A "run-through" at the Roseau Port of Entry ends in the brutal shooting of Deputy Rick Magnuson from the Roseau County Sheriff's Office - what authorities didn't know was the driver was a wanted fugative who had recently killed 3 civilians in Canada in separate incidents. In stopping this pickup during a "routine" traffic stop asissting border patrol, Rick's actions most certainly saved the lives of other victims. Unfortunately this traffic stop cost him his life. THE ALBERT WINKELMANN STORY
EOW Dec 5th, 1895

A close-knit community rooted deep with tradition, the South Central Minnesota town of New Ulm was busy celebrating our country’s independence and their strong German Heritage. One of the original settlers of that area was the Winkelmann family – and their 32 year old son Albert was the young Night Watchman that evening. While Albert had only been serving this community for less than a year, locals described him as a young man everyone was fond of - a splendid officer, always obliging, conservative, and courageous. This festive night would end with Albert being ambushed and shot in the early morning hours of July 5th. What followed was an aggressive investigation, a prominent local man charged and then acquitted for his murder, and a community reeling over the loss of a hero.
