@Dejan_Kovacevic@adawgbotizan@IratePiratesFan If he keeps the team he still has an appreciating asset worth $1.5 billion plus whatever the annual income is. If he sells the team, he has $1.5 billion to invest and hope he gets a better return. Not hard to understand why he would keep the team.
@Dejan_Kovacevic@AggravatedJohn Ok, he bought the team in 1996 for $92 million. It’s now worth $1.3 billion. By math that’s an annual return of 10%, NOT counting what he has taken out in profit. S&P 500 return only 8%, INCLUDING dividends for the same period.
It’s only about the money!
@Dejan_Kovacevic@AggravatedJohn The team is an appreciating asset. If he is holding on to the team to take advantage of the appreciation, while also getting a significant cash flow from operations, it is about the money.
If it was about the fans or baseball, things would be different. $$
@innercitypress If this is in accounting records then what is being “hidden”?
Doesn’t this blow the claim of fraudulent accounting records out of the water?
@TimWilliamsP2@northsidenotch Well written piece, however, as a 30+ year fan who didn’t renew tickets last year, please give consideration to how poorly fans are treated, how management acts like they are super smart, and how the team has outright lied (eg, not taking $ out). Free beer tomorrow!
