Hello! I'm the Pipiatrix responsible for @ShitPlinySays. Doing online living history is more fun for me than tweeting as myself, so follow my alter ego if you want to see me role-playing my favorite ancient author.
This account is a desert called peace.

@fluff35@Classics_Review@BloomsburyClass Thank you for writing such a badass book! I meant every word.
Y'all, go read Helen's book! And stop sharing fake Hippocrates quotes!
Just discovered this searchable index of names & demographic details of almost 300 medieval/early modern women who died in childbirth. By @SamanthaLKSeal. Includes age at death, whether this was the 1st (known) child, and if not, info on other pregnancies. https://t.co/748jr1QIII
@professor_dave I was this kid. My teachers thought I was doing fine. I was dissociating to escape and teaching myself at home. And failing math because dyscalculia doesn't respond to more flashcards.
My body was in the room. My mind was on the Starship Enterprise.
Ever posted your location on Instagram, or used find my iPhone, or any GPS technology? Then thank Dr. Gladys Mae West! She is the pioneer responsible for the mathematics behind GPS. She is 91 years old.

It's FAQ Feature Day! Last week we told you how Rhea differs from other book review platforms - one of those ways is that our authors and reviewers are all emerging, contingent, or alternative scholars.
So, who is included in those categories? Great question!

@kataplexis@Roelkonijn One of my personal favorites in the 2016 hoplites was someone who heard my description of why Greek folks put gorgons on their shields, then decided to make a Trump gorgon. It was October. A more innocent time.
@kataplexis@Roelkonijn Happy to do! I have my Warfare in the Ancient World kids make cardboard shields for a hoplite and Roman legion practicum. Here are the UMBC hoplites defending the pass of Thermopylae from my colleague @TimothyPhin and his Persians. 1/

@ltotelin I will confess to having started a paper with "It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that there was no systematic human cadaver dissection in antiquity." I couldn't help myself.
Anyway, I co-sign on this. Such rhetoric has made me feel awful before, and will again.
@ShitPlinySays Random?!
Seriously, though, if you admire Uncle Pliny, you're admiring the work of his enslaved secretarial pool too. We'll never know how much of their creativity and talent made the Natural History so amazing, but it was probably a lot.
Thanks, dead friends. I love your work.
