Emerging writers often struggle with spatial relationships in their screenwriting.
We create images of the scene in the reader's mind, whether we like it or not.
In doing so, we also establish spatial relationships. This person is here. This person is there. This object is there.
If the writer is not controlling this, they may have a different image than the reader.
The easiest way to highlight that confusion is an action that defies the spatial relationship the reader has in their mind.
"Wait, how did he get there?" "They kiss? Wasn't he behind the door?" "Why doesn't he just pull her up?"
All that effort to get the reader to feel the emotion of the moment is wasted because the reader is trying to figure out how the moment happened instead.

You've read brilliant intros in the past, and it's easy to put tremendous pressure on yourself to be brilliant here, too.
But don't. If it comes, great! But it's more important to be effective.

The more we know of the protagonist's expectations for the future, the more punch it will have when events shatter them.
This is especially effective at the inciting incident.
Your story can take it in either direction. From someone expecting nothing, to someone expecting everything.
For any story that rocks their world in the beginning, what you want out of your screenwriting is to affect them emotionally.
The more desperate they are, the more we will buy desperate choices.
