WATCH: On Christmas night, December 25, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly authorized airstrikes on Islamic State fighters operating in northwest Nigeria. U.S. Africa Command said several militants were neutralized during the operation. The development has once again drawn attention to the failure of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu–led federal government to effectively address rising insecurity and alleged religious persecution across Nigeria.
