That’s the point being missed. I’m not saying “spirit” is nothing. I’m saying God is not a created material object sitting inside the universe like a rock, planet, or molecule.

God is Spirit. He is the Creator of “things,” not one more thing inside the creation He made.

John 4:24 — “God is a Spirit…”
John 1:3 — “All things were made by him…”

So no, “thing” language doesn’t trap God. It just exposes your category error.

I’m done arguing with Bible word-search scholars. Bro thinks prophecy ain’t real unless it drops a first name like a government ID. Genesis gives the Seed, Judah gives the ruler line, Micah gives Bethlehem, Isaiah gives the suffering servant — and you’re still stuck asking why the Bible didn’t hand you a name tag. That’s not textual criticism — that’s remedial reading with confidence.
