The Labour Party’s refusal to work with the Greens unless they renounce anti-Zionism exposes the hollowness of the Burnham project.

Thank you to Sarah Helm for defying this absurdly authoritarian ban on Palestine Action.
This unprecedented attack on free speech in our country is plainly unsustainable.
Lift The Ban on Palestine Action.

Today Lubna Speitan held a press conference in regards to the ZIR motion being passed by the Green Party. We caught up with her after and she has a very important message for all of you at home #green#community#message#politics#hope
Labour still hasn’t grasped the political effect of weaponising antisemitism: all people take away is that, if you’re horrified by the genocide in Gaza, Andy Burnham and Bridget Phillipson think you’re basically a Nazi.
Nobody buys this, and it just throughly pisses people off.
Exactly this. Labour haemorrhaged support in 2024, and Independents and Greens grew, including its Gorton & Denton historic win. Largely because people were sickened at its complicity in Israel’s genocide and demonisation of its own pro- Palestinian members or supporters as ‘anti-semites’.
Labour’s ‘Burnham Bounce’ was due to a massive re-brand, including an apology over Gaza, to win back support. This last week the mask has been torn off, and the extent to how little has changed has been revealed for all to see. And the extent to which ALL British parties are dictated to by Zionists’ demands to prioritise Israel’s interests, even to the detriment of British democracy and free speech itself has also been revealed.
Over the last several months Labour stole the Green Party clothes to stop their growth and deceive voters to woo them back. It was effective, as it made it harder for Greens to distinguish themselves.
The panic though of the Zionists over one Green Party motion has forced Labour to prematurely and suddenly abandon the pretence, and left them exposed. The @sally_rooney book ban and imperious demand for @TheGreenParty councillors to publicly renounce their own party - reminiscent of authoritarian dictators - will be disturbing to the wider British public, and rightly raise questions about Israel’s influence. The discomfort of Labour Ministers carrying the line is as obvious as their being mouthpieces for Zionist demands, no matter how extreme.
The question now isn’t how much the motion has strategically cost the Green Party (which is actually still holding its support despite the frenzied attacks). It’s how effective it has been in exposing the Labour Party, as Burnham is revealed to be no different from Keir Starmer in his craven support of Israel. The Greens were able to absorb that disillusionment in a hopeful project, and by staying strong now will only gain as that inevitably grows once more.
The ongoing weaponisation of anti-semitism and authoritarian impulses is a danger to ALL of society, and demonstrates precisely why @ZackPolanski and @MothinAli are right in calling it out. And why - whether you are a @TheGreenParty member or not, we all need to stand together to defend British democracy and free speech. A major tenet of which is respecting the right of different views to be expressed, whether we agree with them or not. And not upholding one perspective simply by preventing others being heard by false accusations of anti-semitism. It may work in Westminister bubble, but as Labour will soon find out, it no longer does in the wider public.

This is the local government problems Burnham's stupid Green ultimatum will trigger nationwide.
