Students decided the consequence for missing a deadline would be to write an apology (and still submit the work). I think there’s also something in their contracts about donuts, but so far no one has triggered that clause.

UC operates with 1/2 the per-student funding it did 20 years ago by paying poverty wages to lecturers and grad students. As those workers negotiate better wages, rather than demand adequate funding, UCOP is making austerity cuts that'll damage UC's teaching and research mission.
