This past week, I met with key federal agencies and partners including the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of State, International Boundary and Water Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, and Department of Homeland Security, alongside members of Congress and regional leaders on both sides of the border.
At every table, Imperial Beach was represented pushing for transparency, real coordination across agencies, project funding, and accountability on commitments made. I am so proud to continue elevating our community’s voice at the highest levels and driving the action we deserve. A meaningful moment for me was delivering letters from Imperial Beach residents directly to the Environmental Protection Agency ensuring their personal stories, impacts, and lived experiences are part of the decisions moving forward.
Thank you to @SDChamber for an incredible week!
Another productive trip to DC, the 18th Annual Binational #CaliBaja delegation lead by the @SDChamber. Proud to be part of the Board and so far my 5th year in a row attending the trip. #SDinDC 🙌🏽🫶🏽 🇲🇽🫱🏽🫲🏾🇺🇸
@AlaskaAir@aboutKP@CommerceGov@SenAdamSchiff@USChamber@SenPadilla And that's a wrap on the 2026 Mission to D.C.! We closed out the trip with a powerful breakfast discussion on immigration reform with the @immcouncil before our delegates headed back to San Diego. What an incredible few days of advocacy for our region.
Our Mission to D.C. trip was a success! Taking a look back at the four days chock-full of impactful meetings, important discussions, and amazing new connections. 🌟
DAY 3 hit the ground running! After breakfast and a meeting with @SenAdamSchiff, our delegates spread across D.C., learning from the @USChamber, connecting with representatives like @SenPadilla, and pushing policy forward for our region. We wrapped the evening at a reception sponsored by @amazon, and remarks from @RepScottPeters.
I am back on the hill (and a few other places too!) advocating for Imperial Beach and working with federal partners to push for funding, accountability, and real solutions to the Tijuana River Sewage crisis.
It’s an honor to represent my community in these conversations. Thank you to @SDChamber and the City of Imperial Beach for the opportunity. 📝
