This month marks the 1 year mark of war in Sudan.
One year of violence. One year of forced displacement. One year of little to no humanitarian aid provided for families in dire need.

The war in Sudan has received a fraction of the attention given to Gaza and Ukraine. Yet it threatens to be deadlier than either conflict. It is possible to save millions of lives, if the world acts now https://t.co/P8iroxKjF1
The famine in Sudan is the world’s deadliest famine in 40 years. 25 million people are experiencing emergency levels of starvation. That’s the whole population of Australia. 2.5 million are going to perish before the end of this year.
Let it sink.

We’ll be discussing "Tears of the Desert," a powerful memoir of survival in Darfur.
Due to the ongoing war in #Sudan, the country has become one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises with at least 5 million people on the brink of starvation.
Here is how can you help https://t.co/9IRbuiLEIO
End of the day! Thanks to everyone who came to talk to me and asked what they can do to help. A member of the consular section came out and spoke to me briefly and said I should write to the High Commission again which I intend to do immediately but not holding my breath.

Today marks one year of the war in #Sudan This senseless war has touched every single family including ours. My sister and her children remain stranded and we are heartbroken to hear her desperate appeals for help. Once again we appeal to the government of Canada to review her case on humanitarian grounds. I am fully committed to supporting Kholoud and her family financially and emotionally to relief the anguish of our 92 year old Canadian mother.

Sharing some of this was really tough but we hope it helps humanise the horror of Sudan's war.
A year of unspeakable violence, displacement and dispossession
tearing through our country.
When the war in the news is the war at home.
