It is part of the National Tree Planting Campaign recently launched by HE President William Ruto.
The tree planting exercise will help address the effects of climate change in the country, increase the country's forest cover as well as improve food security.

The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Planning Prof. Njuguna Ndungu and the Principal Secretary for Roads Eng. Joseph Mbugua today launched a tree planting campaign in Nyandarua County.
The event that was held at Kiambogo-Geta Forest.

The Principal Secretary (PS), Roads, Eng. Joseph Mbugua, has lauded the road agencies for the decision to review the existing Road Design Manual and Standard Specification in a bid to identify gaps and shortfalls that may need to be fixed.

There has occurred an accident involving multiple vehicles along the Nairobi – Thika - Nyeri Road (A2) near Thika town, at Bluepost Hotel. The accident has occasioned that stretch of the road to be completely blocked as the police conduct rescue operations

A head on collision accident has occurred, this morning, involving two trailer trucks at Governor, between Mai Mahiu and Naivasha. The two trucks caught fire on impact, which has, however, been put under control. Police are currently controlling traffic flow.

He praised the Road Agencies for the decision to review the existing Road Design Manual and Standard Specification for the purpose of identify gaps and shortcomings that need to be adressed.

Earlier today, The Principal Secretary for roads Eng. Joseph Mbugua officially opened a week long workshop at KICC to bring stakeholders from all over the country to discuss a Draft Review Report from a consultant leading in the review.

Present was Kenya Forest Service representative Mr. Antony Mutie. He said that they will continue planting trees on road reserves in Upper Hill in line with the MOU they have with KURA. Upper Hill District Association was represented by their Administrative manager Mr. Samuel

The Kenya Urban Roads Association (KURA) in association with the Upper Hill District Association, the Kenya Forest Service and the Ministry of Roads and Transport today planted over 3000 trees along its road reserves in the Upper Hill region.

He said that they had signed an MOU with the Kenya Forest Service to plant trees along road reserves that are on all urban roads constructed under their Agency.
