Enough is enough, @StevensonLDN. What you are doing here by taking sharing pictures of unhoused people without their consent is despicable.
This isn’t leadership. I am so ashamed of you and to call @CityofLdnOnt my home right now.
Breaking News! The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal has just approved the $23.4Billion compensation agreement for children, youth and families affected by Canada’s discriminatory conduct towards First Nations children, youth and families. Link to decision coming soon!
So, if I’m clear WPS is more invested in utilizing resources to identify Indigenous protestors instead of utilizing resources to find Indigenous women who have been brutally murdered and discarded. Indigenous folx shouldn’t need to protest for the right thing to be done.
If you care, truly care, about mental health you will realize that the National Post narrative on the recent suicide of an educator is using tragedy as a dog whistle and political agenda.
It frames a situation as “if only this hadn’t happened” when suicide is much more complex.
The expectation (ESPECIALLY on social media) that Black folks provide folks with information when they are being harassed and treated with hostility is rooted in white supremacy and peak entitlement.
Racism is taught & children learn it at an early age. That is why racists everywhere including Canada have always set their eyes on schools to advance white supremacy. When white supremacy ideology becomes part of the curriculum, it is taught, perpetuated & believed
I know this is a few months old but in light of what’s happening in Winnipeg around #SearchTheLandfill I thought I would re-share @auntykita’s @Yellowhead_ brief “MMIWG2S+ and the Failure of Policing” #MMIWG2S

This is a false and problematic comparison. It highlights a complete lack of understanding of the Residential School System and the genocide our communities experienced as a direct result. As an Anishinaabe woman descended from survivors this tweet absolutely sickens me.
I am fine with responding to respectful inquiries about context behind #SearchTheLandfill — but I will not be taking up any homework assignments tasking me to educate anyone about this nation-state called Canada / anti-Indigenous rhetoric / accumulative horrific histories.
To be an Indigenous woman in Canada today is difficult. It’s hard being confronted with the juxtaposition of my value within my (Indigenous) community vs. society at large.
But, that’s not what this thread is about. I’ve seen a lot of arguments against #SearchTheLandfill /1
Just attended an incredible event: 🌸 Reflection and Action - Conversations with the Authors of the Anti-Asian Racism Report for the YRDSB. 📚 Dr. Mary Reid and Dr. Ardavan Eizadirad shared their findings and explored how we can move toward systemic change. ✨ #AntiAsianRacism
Other recruitment strategies need to follow a significant improvement to compensation. “A media campaign telling people child care is a great place to work, that’s only going to be effective if it really becomes a great place to work.” #WorthMore https://t.co/BjByJVb0cR
