The US may intervene in Iran. I'm not sure, but it looks possible.

If it does, hostile voices will frame it as Israel's war that we were drug into.

This is inaccurate but effective framing. It reminds America of the cost of the Iraq war, and plays on the current dissatisfaction with Israel our long-term ally.

A better and more realistic framing is this: the Trump administration is on a humanitarian mission to rescue a future ally from an oppressive and genocidal regime, with the end result being greater peace and stability in the Middle East.

The God Who Was Born on Christmas for You

Into what kind of world was God born? A world full of hurting people who hurt each other, hurt themselves, and sometimes will do terrible things to themselves just to make the hurt stop.

For them, for you, God was born. For bruised children and broken men. For wounded soldiers and battered wives. For you—no matter your hurt, no matter how screwed up your life is, no matter what kinds of stupid decisions you’ve made, no matter how filthy and vile and useless you think you are—for precisely you God was born.

He gladly left a bright and shiny heaven to plunge headfirst into the mud and muck of our world full of darkness and unbelief and tragedy. He didn’t stand in the light and beckon you out of the darkness.

He invaded the night.
He came in search of you.

Into this mad world, oozing with pain, racked with guilt, pockmarked with graves, God gladly and willingly was born to make you his own flesh and blood.

The deeper you have fallen, the farther he will dig to find you. The darker your despair, the more light he will bring to seek you out. The farther away from God you are, the better he sees you.

No life has sunk so unfathomably deep that he cannot dig down to grasp you by the hand and climb out of the pit with you in his arms.

That’s the kind of God who was born on Christmas. That’s the God that Jesus is for you.

THE GREATEST LOVE STORY
Christmas is the beginning of the greatest love story ever written in the history of Man. God, the creator of the universe, would no longer accept separation from the thing He loved most: us.

Our wonderful Father would no longer let the chasm of sin separate us from His presence, so He made the ultimate sacrifice and sent His son, not only to live in this broken world but to also die for us.

Because of His sacrifice, we have been made right with Him. We are no longer what we were. We are new creations. We can bask in His glory again and chase after the purpose and destiny He laid out for us before the foundations of the earth.

Because of the gift of His son, we now have a Wonderful Counselor that gives us wisdom through the troubles we face. Because of the gift of His son, we are no longer orphans without purpose. We have a Father whose love is everlasting. Because of the gift of His son, we have access to peace that is above all the turmoil and strife we may find ourselves facing.

It gives me unspeakable joy to know that I was on God's mind when He sent His Son Jesus to live and to die.

You were on His mind too.

I want to encourage you this week to remember this. Not only are we the ones that He sent His Son to die for so that we may find a new life in Him, but we are also the ones He chose to be the messengers of this great love story. We are the ones that carry the atmosphere of Heaven wherever we go, and we have the power, through His Holy Spirit to bring transformation and peace to all we come in contact with.

This week, while I remember what was the greatest love story every written for me, I will also remember the great privilege I have to bring the people I come in contact with every day into that same story.

The Public Safety Committee in California's state Assembly just blocked SB 14, which would have made human trafficking of a minor a serious felony in California. Trafficking victims were heard sobbing as they announced the decision.

The DOJ's "Child Sex Trafficking" webpage just removed 3 sections from it's areas of concern: International Sex Trafficking of Minors, Domestic Sex Trafficking of Minors, and Child Victims of Prostitution

Meanwhile the legacy news media is working overtime to discredit and smear the Sound of Freedom as "Q-anon adjacent" and a "Superhero movie for Dads with Brainworms"

For some people, this week was just the ordinary grind of work and home and sleep on repeat.

For others, there were nights of tossing and turning, panic attacks, and that looming sense that something terrible is always around the corner.

For others, this is the week they will forever hereafter use to orient time: "that was the summer before Joe died" or "two years after the hurricane" or "that was about the time I was diagnosed with breast cancer."

Whatever this week held for you, let me tell you what it held for our Father in heaven: it was another week of looking down upon a world of people whom he loves in Jesus Christ. Me. You. All of us.

He saw me, still overwhelmed with grief for my son, waking up from dreams about him, unable to sleep. And our Father loved me through it.

He saw families standing around ruined homes, trembling with fear, sobbing over loss, and wondering what tomorrow will hold. And our Father loved them, and will continue to love them, through it.

He saw a couple sit down with an oncologist to receive news that shook them to the core. And our Father loved them and held them through it.

The God who sent his Son to live, die, and rise again for you, do you imagine he is now going to ignore you or walk away when you need him most? No, he cannot do that. His love leaves no room for apathy or betrayal.

You, my friend, are on God's mind right now.
He is thinking of you. Right now.
He is loving you. Right now.

The empty tomb of Jesus is the full promise from God our Father that nothing and no one can separate us from his love, every moment of every day, no matter what that day might hold.
