Long before modern color film became common, Russian photographer Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky pioneered a remarkable technique that captured the world in color.

Using a special camera, he took three separate black-and-white photographs through red, green, and blue filters, then combined them to create a full-color image.

This famous self-portrait, taken around 1912 on the Korolistskali River in present-day Georgia, remains one of the earliest and most impressive color photographs ever made, offering a vivid glimpse into a world more than a century ago.
