Doesn’t change the fact that it is one of the best films to come out in the last 5-10 years. I wish it would have done better numbers, but I’m confident it will get its due come awards season.
DIGGER (2026) is losing 2,535 theaters in its third weekend, leaving it in just 786 venues. After opening to $8 million domestically and dropping 60% in its second weekend, Tom Cruise’s film is suffering one of the year’s most brutal theatrical collapses.
@johnbryanesq There need to be higher standards for being a police officer. The (lack of) judgement and situational awareness is damning. I wouldn’t trust these people to drive a car down the road, let alone be responsible for upholding public safety.
I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.
Breaking News: Meta reached a landmark settlement of up to $17.1 billion with 47 states, D.C. and U.S. territories and has to make major changes to its products over claims it endangered children with addictive social media platforms. https://t.co/LasJeryZiS
@FrancescaHongWI Deeply misleading graph. Flip it to a tax-dollars-paid metric and it inverts dramatically. Are “the rich” supposed to pay more for consuming (arguably) less of what those taxes support?
@aleximm (2/2) …comes from what it could potentially be used for in the future. It’s a slippery slope once they’re in place that could go from helping catch criminals to identifying and categorizing anyone who doesn’t toe the party line.
@aleximm (1/2) Everyone wants safer cities and streets, there’s no debating that. The frustrating part for me is that we need a solution like Flock at all. It’s symptom suppression, not addressing the root cause of why there’s such an influx of crime. The fear and rejection of Flock…
@wiz_political What’s the negative sentiment around data centers? Local contractors stand to benefit the most if/when they break ground. That’s jobs and money directly in the hands of working Wisconsinites. Not to mention the benefits nationally if the US is able to lead the global AI trend.
@DemSocialists Capitalism = freedom and the ability to choose. None of those is a direct result of capitalism. Debt and homelessness (large majority) are the result of personal choices. We have unrestricted access to the most advanced healthcare in the world.
Is there a requirement that to work for the government you have to prove you cannot do proper root cause analysis?
In what world does @elonmusk creating successful companies and Americans struggling financially have any relation to one another?
Americans are struggling to pay for groceries and gas while Elon Musk becomes a TRILLIONAIRE.
When the federal government is for sale, the rich get richer and everyone else gets shafted.
The system is rigged.
This exact scenario happened at a prior company I worked for. Except we paid them ~$5M and implemented zero of their suggestions. Found out years later that some of the c-suite had personal relationships with partners at the consulting company.
We hired a consulting firm to tell us why our profits are down.
They sent three 24-year-olds wearing vests.
They spent two months interviewing us about our own jobs.
Then they put our answers into a PowerPoint presentation.
They charged us $250K for this privilege.
During the final readout, one of them used the phrase synergy optimization without blinking.
I looked around the conference room.
Our CEO was nodding like he just received the Ten Commandments.
The grand conclusion was that we need to increase revenue and decrease costs.
I could've told them that for a gift card to Panera.
But nobody listens to the guy who works here.
You only listen to the guy who flies in on a Tuesday.
I'm updating my resume to include synergy optimization.
It feels like the right move.
