@InterestingSTEM Total bs, robots in this case are being used as a proxy to represent human ambition run amok, actual motivations of an ai will not be the same as human one’s simply because of biology, there is no motivation for sex, reproducing, hunger, etc which are large motivations for power
@matthewdmarsden Reminds me of the chapter in all quiet on the western front when the main character went home on leave, all the chuckle heads in town had an opinion on how the war should be fought and run while the main character knew it would mean he or his friends would die
@briandecoded I don’t remember that, my takeaways were invest in things that don’t rust rot or depreciate, ie assets to get out of the rat race, and for me it’s worked pretty well
@robbiehendricks@elonmusk It’s partly because they think cutting any government jobs will hurt the economy even if they are not necessary, they should just cut to the chase and give money to people, it would be more honest
@VexingMisfit @bigzee_001@EndWokeness Bah anyone can get a brokerage account who lives in the United States, the real shame is some countries effectively have the market blocked except for the very wealthy
@bigzee_001@EndWokeness Just buy assets and don’t keep cash, to keep savings is the bad advice, getting into the market is easier than it’s ever been just most people buy and sell too much
@EndWokeness Yea there’s a reason if you buy an ounce of gold from the us treasury it says $20, because an ounce used to be $20, now it’s almost $3000, that’s how much the US dollar has been eroded in just 100 years, that’s why wealthy keep most money in assets that appreciate with inflation
@SenTinaSmith Maybe think about dealing with our debt crisis instead of criticizing those who are realistic about how cuts need to be made or inflation will go out of control before bankruptcy
@PattyMurray Not surprising considering all the state of Washington knows how to do is raise taxes it seems, the solution is never tighten the belt or find savings, it’s tax seniors out of their homes and vilify the businesses that have made the state what it is and find a way to take more
@MikeBenzCyber Same thing happens with the homeless industrial complex, organizations have no incentive to actually solve the problem and all the incentive to grow it, and as a result the management gains financially, they are rotten to the core and profit off of human suffering
@cartierfamilyZ Settling is not an admission of guilt although it can look that way, many times a lengthy legal process where a case goes to jury can cost more and pose more risk than settling, this is one of the reasons cases are settled outside of court and suing is sometimes simply blackmail
@pmarca In fact if mortgages and loans in general were more difficult to obtain it would bring prices down by tamping the demand side. The big winners have been the banks, as is the case with student loans.
