It was a great end to the soccer season last week. We made sure to stop by the field in downtown OKC and get some work in before we went back home. This kid never ceases to amaze me. He’s growing too fast.

This is my absolute favorite quote about the time it takes to do SEL with students!
Thank you Mountain Iron-Buhl Schools for inviting me to Minnesota!
“The reality is that each of us is either a plus or a minus in the lives of others. We add value or we subtract it. We give or we take.” — John Maxwell

As a high school principal, Eric Church’s UNC speech is perfect wisdom for our kids.
Life = 6 guitar strings: faith, family, partnership, ambition, resilience, community & self. Keep ‘em tuned.
Listen humbly, retune often, play your own song. Straight into next year’s senior assembly. 🎸🎓

Fired up the @BlackstoneGrid after another long week of school and man, it hit the spot. Chicken and onions sizzling away, garage door wide open, and that nice May evening glow over the neighborhood.
Nothing better for unwinding.
Anyone else get that same chill feeling when you finally get on the griddle or grill for the weekend?🔥🍗🧅

Started reading Coffee with the Custodian by @DrBradJohnson. Great reminder that leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about relationships, humility, and learning from the people around you.
Some of the best lessons don’t come from the front office. ☕️
Highly Recommend!
As this school year winds down, it’s hitting me hard. We’re about to send another incredible senior class into the world.
I’m really going to miss this group. What they’ve accomplished has been truly remarkable. Their final performances on the field, in the classroom, and on stage have been bittersweet to watch.
I’ve loved every moment with them and can’t wait to watch them keep growing over these final four weeks. The future is going to be bright!
Proud of you, Class of 2026! ❤️🚀

Teaching is more than a job—it’s showing up for others every single day. 💛
If you’ve been feeling tired, remember: it’s because you care, you give, and you keep going even when it’s not easy.
Today, take a moment for yourself.
Your well-being matters just as much as everything you do for others.

The guiding coalition is the engine-not the principal. Principals trying to “drive improvement” alone is a losing strategy. Sustainable change comes from a tight, credible leadership team. If it’s “principal-led,” it fades. If it’s “coalition-driven,” it spreads. @SolutionTree
Po-Hi Prom was another huge success!
Stunning “Midnight Memories” theme, beautiful Grand March, and smiles all around at the Marland Mansion.
After Prom brought games, food, and non-stop fun.
Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors!
Proud of our Wildcats! 💙❤️

Stop calling them “SPED kids.”
Students are students first.
Having an IEP doesn’t change that. It doesn’t lower expectations, and it doesn’t mean we stop problem solving at Tier 1 and Tier 2. Strong core instruction still matters every single day.
The goal is always growth and independence. That only happens when students are supported across all tiers, not separated by a label.
And language matters.
They are not “SPED kids.”
They are students first, each with unique needs we’re responsible for meeting.
That difference matters. It shows up in how we teach, how we support, and how we see them.
