i pity the team that will pay 100m for Morgan Rogers lmao
I just remembered these guys want to sell Enzo for £120m but they’re paying £117m for Rogers 😭
Akhirnya ada jebolan akademi City yang transfernya £117m
2,5 tahun kemudian.. 🤑

1/3 – Is Morgan Rogers the Right Fit for Arsenal?

Morgan Rogers | Aston Villa | 23 | AM / LW |🏴
Profile
Morgan Rogers is a high-variance final-action attacker rather than a possession controller. Across 3,285 Premier League minutes, he started all 37 matches and produced 10 goals and 6 assists. Whether starting from the left or centrally, his game naturally gravitates towards the left half-space: receiving between the lines, turning under pressure, combining quickly and attacking the channels.
His biggest on-ball strength is his ability to receive on the half-turn. Rogers manipulates defenders with body feints, spins away from pressure and accelerates aggressively through midfield lines. At 6'2, he uses his frame and arms exceptionally well while carrying, making him extremely difficult to dispossess once he has forward momentum.
However, that physicality does not consistently translate into static duels. Rogers won only 35.7% of his overall duels and 29.5% of his aerial duels in the Premier League. He is powerful when contact arrives while he is already moving, but far less effective when competing for stationary 50/50s, loose balls or aerial challenges.
Transition: Where His Strengths Lie
Rogers is at his best when the game becomes stretched. He averaged 14.41 carries, 3.37 progressive carries and 76.46m of progression per 90 in the Premier League. He can receive with his back to goal, escape the counter-press on the half-turn and then carry directly at a retreating defensive line.
He is also an excellent transition creator. Rogers releases the ball quickly and can thread intricate passes between centre-backs or into the space between full-back and centre-back. His six league assists were split evenly between three in transition and three from controlled possession, so transition amplifies his qualities without being the only environment in which he can create.
The Arsenal question is whether his short-space combinations, half-turn quality and off-ball movement can replace enough of the open-field volume that currently drives his best performances.
Shooting: The USP
Rogers’ ball-striking is what separates him from most players in his position.
He scored 10 Premier League goals from 6.78 xG and 84 shots, with 42% of his attempts coming from outside the box. His average shot quality was only 0.08 xG, while the ten shots he scored from were worth just 1.43 xG combined.
This is not occasional highlight-reel shooting; difficult-chance finishing is fundamental to his profile. His low-backlift technique, knuckleball striking and ability to generate power with limited preparation allow him to score from situations where the defensive structure has otherwise remained intact.
A repeated pattern is Rogers receiving towards the top-left corner of the box, creating separation with a body feint or sharp touch and striking towards the far corner. Four of his ten league goals arrived through a similar mechanism.
That provides genuine low-block value. He does not always need a defence to be opened completely before producing a shot. However, the same quality creates a clear risk: Rogers frequently attempts low-probability efforts, and his current level of overperformance should not be assumed to continue.
Creation: Selective but Decisive
Rogers recorded 6 league assists from 4.30 xA, alongside 13 big chances created and 1.29 key passes per 90. In the Europa League, he produced a further 5 assists from 2.65 xA, with his key-pass volume rising to 2.32 per 90.
Across both competitions, that is 11 assists from 6.95 xA. He is a selective, high-impact creator rather than someone who constantly dictates possession. His strongest final passes are through balls, vertical passes, combinations and cutbacks. Crossing is largely absent from his game because he rarely occupies traditional touchline-delivery positions. Five of his six league assists came through passes rather than crosses, with no high-cross assists recorded.
Rogers does not dawdle in possession. He generally looks to release quickly and continue his movement, although this directness can become impatience or selfishness when a simpler pass is available.
Dribbling: Momentum vs Isolation
Rogers completed 1.15 dribbles per 90 at a 35.6% success rate in the Premier League. He was also dispossessed 2.19 times per 90, placing him among the more wasteful players in his positional group.
He is not an elite static 1v1 winger. His best take-ons come when receiving on the half-turn or entering the duel with forward momentum. Once he has accelerated, his close control, stride length and physical shielding make him extremely difficult to stop.
He also ranks in the 84th percentile for creating his own shots, reflecting his ability to manufacture separation before shooting even when he does not fully eliminate the defender.
Movement: The Most Transferable Trait to Arsenal's System
Rogers’ movement may be his most important quality when projecting him into a more possession-dominant side.
He is excellent at drifting into a defender’s blind side, combining with one touch and immediately bursting into the channel. Rather than always demanding the ball to feet, he can release possession and continue moving towards goal.
That gives him potential as a left-sided attacking midfielder against deeper blocks. An overlapping or underlapping full-back can manipulate the opposition’s wide defender, while Rogers receives inside, combines around the box and attacks the channel for a cutback or shot.
His off-ball movement offers something different from a conventional ball-dominant creator: Rogers can influence an attack without needing every phase to run through him.
Can His Game Translate?
The Europa League sample provides some encouragement.
His carrying volume remained similar at 15.27 carries per 90 (14.41 in EPL), but his progressive carries fell to 1.76 (3.37 in EPL), with total progression dropping to 46.33m per 90 (76.46m in EPL). At the same time, his box touches increased to 5.55 per 90 (4.96 in EPL), his dribble success rose to 57.9% (35.6% in EPL), and his key-pass output increased significantly to 2.32 per 90 (1.29 in EPL).
In more dominant matches, Rogers did not stop carrying; the function of those carries changed. He became more of a short-space connector around the penalty area rather than an open-field progressor.
The opposition level must be considered, but it suggests he is not exclusively dependent on transition football.
Defending and Consistency
Rogers’ defensive output is modest: 1.15 tackles, 0.36 interceptions, 3.81 recoveries and 0.71 final-third regains per 90 in the Premier League. He can operate within a structure, but the data does not describe a relentless counter-presser or dominant defensive dueller.
Consistency is another concern. His season-level output was strong, but it arrived in bursts, including a period of approximately two months (February 11th to April 16th 2026) without a goal or assist. Rogers can look like the best player on the pitch in one match and become peripheral in the next.
The profile is clear: Rogers is a dynamic half-space attacker whose value comes through half-turn receptions, powerful carrying, blind-side movement, difficult-chance shooting and quick combinations.
He is not a possession controller, touchline winger or consistently dominant 1v1 dribbler. The Arsenal fit depends on whether his movement and short-space quality can preserve his influence when the game offers less transition space.

What are your thoughts on Rogers Arsenal fans?
Personally, I’d take Rogers over Barcola. He offers more reliable end product, already has Premier League experience, and I think his half-turn quality, movement and ability to operate in the left half-space are more transferable to Arteta’s system. My main concern would be the fee. As good as he is, 130m is too much.

Bjir sampe tembus £117m morgan rogers wak😳

Bro. £117m guaranteed. For Morgan Rogers.
@SwedishRumble Personally, I don’t mind bringing him back but I also acknowledge the noise and scrutiny that might come with it
But I don’t think there are many lw options better than him in this market..Rogers just went for £117m so I’d say reintegrate him and we buy a world class LB
@SportsQoner This is pure fan fiction. Thierry Henry never said any of this.
Arsenal fans are clearly hurting after Chelsea hijacked the £117M deal, so you are out here inventing whole scripts to cope with missing out on Rogers. Stop falling for these fake quote.
@ManCityFonder @RunnaLt @shaunypizzle @IlyasNoreaga i highly doubt arsenal are losing sleep over the fact that they didn’t pay 117m for rogers
@HarveyDiamonds You’re really going in the wrong direction, not signing Rogers for £117m is a smart move, we need a natural winger not Eze type of player again.
I dunno how Chelsea fans cope anyway, they signed some wingers big amounts that hasn’t even played now buying rogers for 117m….. cos their midfield is still caicedo , Enzo and Palmer
That’s not the way it works 😂 I’m not arsed about Dobbin going either, but if a “journalist” got something wrong about that transfer, I’d Tweet about it as well.
The reason I’m not arsed about him going is because he was poor for most of last season and £117m is ridiculous money for him.
@David_Ornstein @TheAthleticFC £150k per week wages is not that bad but £117m transfer fee is mental.
@Nuel006 Rogers isn’t worth 117m
Tonali isn’t worth 100m
Fernandes isn’t worth 85m
Anderson isn’t worth 116m
Isak wasn’t worth 125m
Wirtz wasn’t worth 117m
Hope this helps.
Thank God I’ve woken up I had this nightmare that we paid 117m of the kings finest on Morgan Rogers 😅.
