First teaser for Gremlins 3 just dropped. It's a green backpack, a red suitcase, some smoke & Gizmo. That's it. That's the teaser. For a movie coming out October 6, 2028. 🙃 Which is also a delay as it was set for November 19, 2027, so it's slipped nearly a year and moved out of the Christmas slot the 1st one basically invented. The people involved are the reason to care. Chris Columbus is directing, and he wrote the original in 1984 at the very start of his career, before Home Alone & Harry Potter. Joe Dante directed the first two; this is Columbus finally taking the wheel on the thing he created. Spielberg is back as executive producer, and the script comes from Zach Lipovsky & Adam B. Stein, who made Final Destination: Bloodlines work on a $50 million budget. The best promise so far is old but worth repeating: Columbus said years ago he'd do it with practical puppets, not CGI. For a franchise whose whole charm was rubber creatures wrecking a small town, that's the only correct answer. Fun fact while you wait three years. The first Gremlins was violent enough that it helped force the creation of the PG-13 rating. A backpack. 2.5 years out. Works for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️
