📜 The Armenian Genocide (1915–1916)
During World War I, the Ottoman Empire under the Young Turk government systematically targeted its Armenian population.
Armenian men were often separated from their families and executed — shot, bayoneted, or killed in labor battalions.
Women, children, and the elderly were then forced on brutal death marches across hundreds of miles toward the Syrian Desert (areas like Deir ez-Zor). They were deliberately deprived of food and water, subjected to robbery, rape, and massacres along the way by Ottoman forces, paramilitaries, and local groups. Those who survived the marches faced starvation and disease in desert concentration camps.
Historians estimate 600,000 to 1.5 million Armenians perished through direct killings, death marches, and related atrocities.
This is one of the first major genocides of the 20th century and helped inspire the term “genocide” itself.

Kurds in Syria are being forced to register as Arabs if they wish to apply for their Syrian citizenship documents.
This is yet another reason that the government of Northeast Syria, which was once the great Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) and is now represented by the Hasakeh Province Government, should retain the right to issue ID cards, birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, business licenses, and other official documents.
The right to issue official documents is an important function of contemporary government.
It may seem like a boring technocratic point to discuss the issuance of documents, and most analysts would rather focus on the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian military, but these points become very important in the practice of the administration of a region.
I stand with the #Kurdish people.
Always have. Always will.
They've been repeatedly targeted, persecuted, murdered.
Yet, as always, they stand proud, strong, determined.
They've been denied an independent state they yearn for & so richly deserve.
Why?
Here’s to #Kurdistan!
What you are seeing is neither a US base nor an Israeli headquarters; it is the home of an elderly woman in #Erbil that was targeted by militia drones. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
How is this fair?
@Charles_Lister@shellykittleson You should go and save her. You have been in good contact with terrorist in the region. Your support for ISIS, Hezbollah, Hamas should surely help you to have a leverage over the group.
Maybe lefties in the West should pay more attention to what the Iranian regime does to our Kids and our communities in Koya Kurdistan than admiring the murderer Larijani. Fuck you all!
A linguist: "They've filed a lawsuit against me 4 speaking Kurdish. I speak 30 languages in the videos, & they complained when one...was Kurdish...I used to say...there's no oppression against #Kurds. But as a #Turk, I'm receiving death threats just for speaking Kurdish."
One simple truth, “I am Kurdish,” goes viral, & suddenly a random Kurdish guy in Amsterdam is branded a terrorist & hit with every slur imaginable by Turks around the world.
Imagine how deeply ingrained the racism & hostility toward Kurds in Turkey must be for it to follow Kurds across the world.
Despicable.
