OG WR coach Gunter Brewer here talking…
Speed Chop / J Turn
@GunterBrewer
“is an indicator type of technique that has a Speed Break component - a hybrid. Meaning a WR will use his speed into the break point while using a hybrid Square/Angle type of cut/turn.”

I absolutely LOVE this mindset from @VandyFootball Head Coach Clark Lea (@Coach_Lea) he's coined "Head, Body, Head Body." 🥊
Great boxers don't step into the ring trying to KO their opponent with every punch.
They trust the accumulation of each shot.
Every jab has a purpose.
Every body shot is an investment.
They know the knockout isn't a single moment, it's the result of hundreds of disciplined decisions that slowly break their opponent's will.
💔 Like the illustration of the rock remaining solid after 100 blows from the hammer, but splitting on the 101st..
Head. Body. Head. Body.
It's more than a combination. It's a mindset. 🧠
👣 Stay where your feet are. Don't chase the knockout.
Don't get distracted by the crowd, the scorecards, or the emotion of the moment.
Whether things are going your way or falling apart around you, don't forecast the outcome.
Just execute the next punch. 🥊
The body shots rarely make the highlight reel. They're repetitive. They're often invisible in the box score.
But they quietly drain energy, erode resistance, and create openings that weren't there before.
There's versions of body shots in every sport or profession. In how you attack your day, your practice and how you attack your opponent.
The unglamorous reps. The extra work. The consistent commitment to the details. The daily act of discipline that nobody applauds. The ability to do the little things right again and again and again.
Those are the body shots in your life.
By themselves they don't seem decisive. But compounded over weeks, months, and years, they become an unstoppable force.
☃️ Similar to a snowball rolling down a hill, except instead of snow it's consistency.
Championships aren't won by searching for one knockout punch. They're won by relentlessly sticking to the plan until the accumulation of snow (reps) becomes impossible to overcome. 🏆

Vanderbilt @VandyFootball Head Coach Clark Lea (@Coach_Lea) on his unique philosophy that "Belief is a Practice.":
🎯 You don't wake up one day believing you're capable, you have to build that belief through the repeated practice of doing difficult things, honoring your standards, and keeping promises to yourself. The same works for teams. There has to be a system that manufacturers opportunities to earn belief each and everyday.
📈 Every workout, film session, game, rep, is a vote for the identity you're becoming. Collectively and individually. CONFIDENCE comes from EVIDENCE. The more evidence your habits provide, the stronger your belief becomes.
🚀 If you find yourself asking, "Do I believe?" Ask instead, "What did I do today that gives me a reason to believe?" Belief isn't something you decide, it's something you practice.
It’s a longer video but this is the dynamic warm-up we use pretty regularly.
Elevate core temp and heart rate a little bit, mobilize the body, activate/stimulate, perform.
Closest thing to a realistic tackle drill I’ve seen. Most drills have you gather right on top of the runner, so you’re slowing down at the exact moment he’s speeding up. The short stride is there to set your angle, and the runner makes his cut 4 to 6 yards out. Win it there, not at contact.
2003… I called 2 basic snag concepts that was 88% completion & avg 8 yds for the yr… now it helped that the guy throwing was Rivers & the guy coaching him was Cignetti, but still great concepts 23 yrs later!! Exxon / Chevron every offense needs them!!!
Kobe's speech to @AlabamaFTBL in 2016 will always be legendary and packed with timeless wisdom for leaders:
🐍 Edit your life. If your habits, relationships, routines, or distractions don't align with who you say you want to become, ELIMINATE THEM. Simple as that. That clarity will help you create commitment in your life.
🎥 Excellence begins with curiosity. You have passion to learn but you have to stoke it like a fire in order to grow. The separation isn't talent, it's the willingness to OBSESS over details others overlook. Kobe didn’t watch film just to confirm what happened. He watched to uncover what could happen. He was feeding his curiousity. What if the defense adjusts? What if the first option gets taken away? What counter exists after the counter? Anticipate, prepare, and think multiple moves ahead.
⚡ Excellence isn't an event, it's an identity. Kobe believed coasting against weaker competition only creates bad habits because standards don't change based on the opponent. If you want to perform at an elite level when it matters most, you have to practice excellence when nobody's watching.
Everybody wants to be the beast, but not everybody wants to do what the beast does. Fall in love with the process, because the habits you repeat eventually become the person you are. 🐻
The highest performers don’t waste energy on things they can’t control.
They focus on two things: their effort and their attitude.
When adversity hits, don’t look for a shortcut back. Just keep chipping away. One play. One response. One step at a time.

Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell - Meeting Structure
- "First of all I know this, you can give them deadhead if you're not careful, so hit them in spurts. You give them 20 minutes, hit them on what you need to hit them on & get them out for a couple minutes, bring them back & keep going."
- "It needs to be interactive, ultimately we're teachers. We're teachers in football, so how do you communicate & articulate what you're trying to get across to those players. Don't make it more complex than it needs to be, keep it simple where they can play fast, know what to do & make it interactive, make it fun."
