The whole album cost a grand total of $606.17 to record and produce.

What's even wilder is how that bill actually got paid. Nirvana was completely broke and couldn't cover the studio time at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle, so a guitarist named Jason Everman stepped up and paid the invoice out of his own pocket.

To say thanks, the band officially added him to the lineup and put his name and picture right on the album cover, even though he didn't play a single note on the entire record.

Everman didn’t last long with Nirvana, and he briefly ended up playing bass for Soundgarden before walking away from the music scene altogether. He went on to have an incredible second act, joining the military and becoming a highly decorated U.S. Army Special Forces Green Beret.
