When I graduated high school, we got to pick a song to play when each of us walked across the stage. I picked this one. Not enough people know the story behind it.

[grannystanding4Truth @granny_st]

Are you familiar with the song “Blackbird” by The Beatles? Most of us are. I had no idea the meaning behind it. Did you? I will never listen to it the same way again.
“Paul McCartney was visiting America. It is said that he was sitting, resting when he heard a woman screaming.

"Deliberately evasive, often for no good reason" is the default mode for political communications in Canada. It's never more obvious how stilted and vague our politicians sound than when they venture onto the international stage

My Ukrainian upbringing supports this story as extremely believable.

[Matthew Kupfer @Matthew_Kupfer]

Genuinely believed this story was a wartime myth. Turns out, it may be true —only they were pickled tomatoes, no cucumbers! #Ukraine https://t.co/K3t4jpIR4M

A Russian whistleblower has described the war as a “total failure” that could be compared only to the collapse of Nazi Germany https://t.co/T6Op3yRWVU

After the 2020 NS Shooting, residents turned to police with one question: "What happened?"
Here is what Senior RCMP members told the public, compared to internal RCMP documents released through the Inquiry.

Interesting piece on surveys conducted by the FSB prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine which may have influenced Putin’s decision making.

@ArdathJean And sanctuary trauma, which many likely experienced when they sought help. That’s because they aren’t actually interested in supporting employees to heal. It’s all about paying the necessary bills and then medically discharging them.

[Alexey Navalny @navalny]

6/12 Putin is not Russia. And if there is anything in Russia right now that you can be most proud of, it is those 6824 people who were detained because - without any call - they took to the streets with placards saying "No War".

[Second Analysis 🌻🇺🇦 @SecondAnalysis]

@TraceyKent I’ve already seen it. Lots of posts echoing Russian propaganda that the Ukrainian Government are Neo Nazis and that Putin is a hero for fighting the New World Order. Watching the suffering of Ukrainians is bad enough, but this is salt in the wounds.

[Caroline Orr Bueno, Ph.D @RVAwonk]

I can’t stop thinking about how Russia is basically an abusive ex who won’t let Ukraine move on. I mean, they’re basically saying, “If I can’t have you, no one can, and if you try to start a new relationship I’ll kill you both. Also I lied to your family to make them hate you.”

[Lionel Page @page_eco]

It is regrettable that many Western commentators repeated Putin’s narrative that the problem came from an aggressive NATO expansion aimed at encircling Russia.

Time for a reset of narratives. Here are some simple insights, informed by our work on the game theory of alliances. 🧵

[The New York Times @nytimes]

Several New York landmarks are being illuminated in blue and yellow, the colors of the Ukrainian flag, through the weekend as a show of solidarity for the people of Ukraine, Gov. Kathy Hochul said on Friday.

[Second Analysis 🌻🇺🇦 @SecondAnalysis]

@KristinRaworth It’s not about heroism. It’s simply what democracy & self determination means to Ukrainian people. Thousands of them lost their lives over hundreds of years simply because of their passion for these things. This is what the world needs to understand and commit to preserving.

[Second Analysis 🌻🇺🇦 @SecondAnalysis]

@StephanieCarvin Her related point about being there for Russians that are opposed to Putin’s actions was also important. It’s important to remember that Putin’s actions don’t reflect every Russian citizen.

“Put these sunflower seeds in your pocket so that something beautiful will grow when your corpse is laying in our fields.” Ukrainian poetry is my favorite.

@JessMarinDavis As someone who did her Masters Thesis on Anti-Authority Ideology (which included elements of this group), I agree that the unintended consequences of this are very scary. This kind of limit can really push someone to greater violence.

I thought telling my story would help. I thought a judge providing a report would help. Instead I've only realized that the same thing happens in the military and we aren't making any progress. Never thought we'd need more voices than 2304.
