Ken Caminiti was more than just the toughest man in baseball. He was a loving father, a loyal friend, a true maverick, and he changed the game of baseball forever.
Hear his extraordinary story on season one of Secondary Lead: The Rise and Fall of Ken Caminiti.
One year ago today, the first episode of @SecondaryLead dropped. Thank you to everyone who listened, shared and left reviews for helping to make the show a success. If you haven't listened to season 1 yet, now is as good a time as any to start binging: https://t.co/RcnnvjxjaQ
Much love to Sweden for becoming the eighth different country in which @SecondaryLead has reached the top 10 on the Apple Podcasts chart.
With a peak position of #1 on Aug. 4, it is also the third different country in which the show has hit the top spot.
Dedicated listeners of @SecondaryLead may remember that Ken Caminiti had a dog win best in breed at the Westminster Dog Show.
But I’ve also been handed this important bulletin, from @JomboyMedia:
OTD in 2002: @SInow hit newsstands, featuring Ken Caminiti's landmark confession to Tom Verducci. Unlike others who have spoken since, he didn't name names and took responsibility.

25 years ago today and with only healthy arm, Ken Caminiti made one of the greatest defensive highlights of the 1990s.

"There are some things that we know for sure. Ken's fellow players loved him. And he was one terrific baseball player." - @kcandaele
Ken Caminiti would have turned 58 today.

“But as I write these words now I cannot stand and sing the National Anthem. I have learned that I remain a black in a white world.” - Jackie Robinson #JackieRobinsonDay
After Ken Caminiti admitted to Sports Illustrated in 2002 that he used steroids and estimated "40 to 50%" of players were using, Mo Vaughn accused him of "belittling other people's success".
Mo Vaughn was named in the 2007 Mitchell Report as a client of Kirk Radomski's.
OTD in 2002, Bob Dvorchak of @PittsburghPG decides to write about an open competition in right field. It became a story which symbolized the dysfunction of the Pirates during a two-decade stretch.
But as we'll learn in Season 2 (updates on that to come), there was more at play:
Some archival news footage from @CBS8 of Padres camp in 1995 and the press conference announcing the Caminiti trade with Houston in 1994:
