@Jewel_Crush_Axe I only know both from work. However you only had to look at her to know she was a bookworm who was likely inexperienced and had a crush on him. He was older and experienced. He must have realised she'd take that kind of messages as he wanted her. He's a predator

I'm too old to understand the ins and out of dating but had to comfort an inexperienced junior lecturer today who was gently encouraged to sext a male lecturer and then he said they were just friends. Is this man an idiot or just modern?

@Jewel_Crush_Axe He's one of the most liked men in the department so it just feels like a kick in the teeth that he behaves like that in private. I need to find a way of keeping the younger female staff away

Yes he is a big d**k and I wish I could give him a piece of my mind without embarrassing the woman involved.

@Jewel_Crush_Axe Thank you, means a lot. As a senior female I know how tough it was to get here. I also know how little support they have and I don't want to pull the ladder up behind me. I feel if we all support each other academia would be a fantastic place

@RuthLCarter While she was sobbing on zoom I told her he is clearly an idiot. Surely if he wants to have fun and he's an academic in his 40s he should know better than to mess with an inexperienced colleague. She's clearly a bookworm and not a party animal. He's a d#@k

@Jewel_Crush_Axe She's been smitten with him for a while, he knew it, the dept knew it. They were friends, so chatted a bit. I've seen some screen shots, he got flirty and sexty and she followed. She seemed under the impression he wanted her. He seemed to just be horny.

How should I respond to a colleague who tells me even if I give him the task he won't do it because he can't be bothered? HR and the uni don't seem to care about his behaviour and think i should just do it myself.

@YouGoChi We have a colleague who is a mid level academic, and at a staff meeting it came up both their parents had been implored for a big part of their childhood. The looks and behaviour towards that colleague as of it changed everything were sickening.
