NEWS ALERT from @FBIDallas: The #FBI Dallas North Texas Child Exploitation Task Force and the North Texas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force announce the results of Operation Soteria Shield, a coordinated law enforcement effort focused on rescuing children from online sexual exploitation and bringing offenders to justice.
Operation Soteria Shield was conducted during the months of March and April 2026. It resulted in 276 child exploitation arrests and the rescue of 89 children. These results are attributed to the collaboration of 91 law enforcement agencies and 197 law enforcement personnel across multiple jurisdictions in the state of Texas.
Operation Soteria Shield highlights the importance of continued reporting by parents, guardians, schools, technology companies, and community members. Cyber threat actors are using sophisticated, cyber-enabled tactics to impersonate legitimate businesses to hijack freight, steal high-value shipments, and reroute deliveries, resulting in a surge in strategic cargo theft. The threat actors target US transportation and logistics sectors, gaining unauthorized access to computer systems via spoofed emails, fake URLs, and compromised carrier accounts. In 2025, estimated cargo theft losses in the US and Canada surged to nearly $725 million, a 60% increase from 2024.

CASE UPDATE from @FBIAlbany: Albany County Man and Alleged Member of Nihilistic Violent Extremist Organization 764 Charged with Receiving Child Pornography
According to the criminal complaint, Ryan Catello, 24, sexually exploited at least two minors by coercing them into self-producing images of child pornography. The complaint also alleges Catello is a member of “764,” a criminal organization of Nihilistic Violent Extremists (NVE) who methodically target vulnerable, underage populations by using social media.

CASE UPDATE from @FBISacramento: Man Sentenced to 20 Years and 10 Months in Prison for Attempted Child Sex Abuse Offense
According to court documents, Kevin Leslie Gipson, 60, communicated with an individual he believed to be the father of a 10-year-old girl, and expressed his desire to perform sex acts on the child. Gipson then planned to meet them in a hotel room to do so, but the individual was, in fact, an undercover officer.

Alexander Gardine from the Turks and Caicos was sentenced to 240 months in prison followed by lifetime supervised release for the sextortion of a Missouri teen.
Gardiner pleaded guilty to one count of coercion and enticement of a minor in November. Gardiner met a 15-year-old Missouri boy via Snapchat. After multiple requests by Gardiner, the teen sent photos of his genitals to Gardiner, believing he would be left alone after doing so. Gardiner instead repeatedly harassed the minor via iMessage, Facebook, and WhatsApp, and threatened to send those images to the victim’s family and friends if the victim did not continue to produce child sexual abuse material for Gardiner. @FBIStLouis

28-year-old Erin Alonzo is indicted on charges for intent to distribute controlled substances, possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, illegal possession of a machine gun, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon following an @FBINewOrleans investigation.

CASE UPDATE: Columbia Woman Who Coerced Minor Boy to Engage in Sex Sentenced to 20 Years in Federal Prison
According to court documents and statements made in court, Alyson Cranick, 44, first using text messaging and Snapchat, and then using the internet chat service Discord, coerced an 11-year-old boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct with her. Several times during the summer and into the fall of 2022, Cranick induced the minor victim to leave his house after midnight to meet up with her. Cranick sexually assaulted the minor victim during these meetings.
