Thought Gibbo and Armstrong were good tonight. Offiah good but showed that he is a cb opposed to a wing back, just lacked that quality and confidence to cross it. That being said, very promising from him

I thought the starting line-up and initial tactics were what you’d do against a top team away from home. You can’t completely change how you play to combat a team that has been not reaching the ceilings they expected, because they find ways to get results like Brum did.

Once we tweaked our game plan, we looked better without providing much of a threat on their goal. We once again showed how we struggle to break down teams that sit back and let us have the ball. Penalty shouts felt more demoralising opposed to motivational.

@WLBennett When refereeing you’re always told if you’re an assistant to back the ref. By not helping the referee in certain incidents, you end up putting the ref in a position where they can’t be backed. 4th officials seem to get this, linesmen don’t - despite being under less influence.

Apart from more poor referees popping up, another thing that has become apparent as of recent is linesmen being less involved. Even if they have the clearest view of an incident, it feels as if the 4th official is more likely to inform the ref on a decision #pnefc

@CarolineMcKevit I think the ref set the precedent for the game with 2 early bookings, caused him to panic when making decisions to keep consistent. I think help from the assistants would of helped him get better control opposed to what ended up being guess work

So we only won the game because the ref gave a throw in the wrong way. It’s hardly a controversial penalty decision or clear offside. Jones really is a clown.

The continuous years of building a squad capable of playing 1 formation is coming back to bite us. Relying on like for like changes 1-0 down since there is nothing else we can do bar bring on Evans/youth. Seeing the youth would be great but need quality in must win games #pnefc

@olihargreavess Tbf I think that pre-season and then bit of time under Maresca would of helped his distribution massively. Maresca big on keeping the ball so can only imagine he would make sure his keepers were able to distribute. However he only played a for short time under Maresca so idk
