Stablecoins are the quiet backbone of DeFi.
They don’t trend on Twitter.
They don’t moon overnight.
But without them? The whole thing crumbles.
@ThalaLabs knew Aptos needed a native stablecoin from day one, then they created MOD.
If the CLMM upgrade was about how liquidity flows, the Move Dollar (MOD) is about what flows through it.
MOD isn’t just pegged to USD, it’s backed by onchain, transparent collateral like APT and other whitelisted assets with zero shady reserves and no freeze buttons.
Here’s why that’s huge.
Without a stable, local unit of account, every swap on Aptos comes with volatility risk as traders wouldn't be able to plan, LPs wouldn't be capable of managing exposure and protocols can’t build stable yield strategies.
But worry not as $MOD fixes that, and now, paired with ThalaSwap’s CLMM engine, every MOD pool is leaner, more efficient, and less volatile.
Imo that’s stability on steroids.
This isn’t flashy.
It’s not even supposed to be kek.
Instead it’s about making Aptos DeFi usable.
One day, your paycheck might come in $MOD, your rent could be paid in $MOD and you’d even swap in and out of it without even thinking about it.
When that happens, DeFi won’t feel like “crypto” anymore.
It’ll just feel normal.
And that’s exactly what Thala’s building toward.
@doanaktar0 @ThalaLabs If I were to advertise, I would have to make a profit fee from it. I have an investment in Thala and I share what I observe and learn. Head over to Thala's official Discord channel and read what I complain about.
Important Announcement
On November 15th 2024, Thala suffered a security breach as a result of an isolated vulnerability in the latest update to v1 farming contracts, allowing the exploiter to withdraw liquidity pool tokens totaling $25.5m.
We immediately paused all relevant contracts and froze Thala token assets ($9m MOD and $2.5m THL). With the help of law enforcement, Seal 911, Ogle, and others, we were able to quickly identify the exploiter and negotiate a $300k bounty for a full recovery of user assets.
To note, affected users require no further action, and positions will be made 100% whole. However, all relevant contracts and the Thala frontend will remain paused until deemed to be fully secure. Existing positions across CDP and LST modules are unaffected.
At this time, the protocol’s codebase is undergoing an extensive review and re-audit of all affected and related packages. We will share more details as soon as possible.
@doanaktar0 @themochimaster @ThalaLabs I understand your frustration. Your expectations were not met, which has led to a loss of trust in the team. It is important to be cautious and conduct thorough research when making investments.
@doanaktar0 @themochimaster @ThalaLabs The team says that no one was harmed due to the hack attack and all funds are safe. The crypto sector is a highly volatile market, so you should take everything into account when investing.
The second round of big news today: we’re excited to announce the first ThalaLaunchpad project and the first incubated project out of Thala Foundry.
Echelon is designed to massively scale up lending on Aptos and supercharge sthAPT, MOD, APT, and USDC yields + THL utility.
