Politics, rights, decency and the occasional fact inconvenient to someone's worldview.
Trying to keep opinion tethered to evidence.

I believe opinions should be challenged, evidence should matter, and people should be treated with dignity.
If you disagree, you're welcome to argue with me directly.

None of us chooses where we're born, yet it can determine our safety, opportunities and future. Borders may define countries, but they shouldn't define human worth. Whatever our nationality, treating one another with dignity and compassion should always come first. #Refugees
Everyone deserves to live free from prejudice, intimidation and discrimination. We should challenge misinformation, reject hatred wherever it comes from, and ensure everyone can live safely and with dignity.
Everyone wants a fair system for taxpayers and refugees alike. Charging recognised refugees thousands is unlikely to tackle the biggest costs. The National Audit Office and Home Office have repeatedly identified delays and expensive contingency accommodation as major cost drivers
Charging refugees for the support they receive is morally wrong. These are people who have fled war, torture and persecution.
In practice, this will lock out the vast majority of refugees from obtaining settled status in the UK.
Comparing this to the student loan system requires a shocking level of cognitive dissonance and dehumanisation of refugees.
#Pride exists because equality isn't measured only by laws, but by everyday lives. Last year, police recorded over 22,500 hate crimes targeting LGBT+ people in England and Wales. Many more go unreported. Pride celebrates progress while reminding us there's still work to do. ๐ณ๏ธโ๐๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
@terencemoo81299@Sanders4Health@TheGreenParty They have previously opposed water fluoridation, largely over consent & local control. The current scientific consensus, however, is that fluoridation at UK levels reduces tooth decay, especially in children, & UK monitoring has found no convincing evidence of serious health harm
@BellRibeiroAddy Traffic-calming measures are most effective when people have genuine alternatives. That means safe walking and cycling routes, public transport that's legit reliable, affordable and convenient, while still recognising personal vehicles must be used too for certain jobs.

January 2026 - EEF additional submission to ESC inquiry into the Early Years regarding earlier starting age and extra hours
@JeremyVineOn5 Evidence shows high-quality early education benefits disadvantaged kids while affordable childcare helps parents into work. The sensible approach is both: prioritise early education where its needed most, make childcare affordable enough that work pays, & fund providers properly
History shows scapegoating minorities has never solved economic or social problems. Research has found some anti-trans campaigns also overlap with broader anti-gender and anti-feminist movements ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ
NHS dentistry has become a false economy. Delaying treatment doesnt save ยฃยฃs, it often leads to complex & costly care later. If practices cant sustainably offer NHS apptments, the system needs fixing. Patients shouldnt have to rely on luck, or their bank balance, to see a dentist
Getting an NHS dental appointment in England has become next to impossible.
An investigation by Adrian Ramsay MP in todayโs Mirror has laid bare the scale of the crisis.
This postcode lottery of care is not inevitable. But two years in, ministers have no answers.
Millions of people are being left in pain, without the basic care they are entitled to.
More than 3 years since war began, Sudan remains the worlds largest displacement crisis. Around 14M people have been forced from their homes, millions face acute hunger, & famine persists. Behind the numbers are families torn apart. Peace & humanitarian aid remain urgently needed

Transgender rights are human rights.

Division is one of politics' oldest tactics. It's easier to make people fear each other than solve the problems affecting everyone. Whatever our background, most people want security, opportunity and a fair chance. We have more in common than those who profit from division claim.
Britain doesn't need Reform. It needs competent government. The IFS says Reform's sums don't add up, their tax cuts favour the wealthiest, and scrapping net zero ignores the long-term cost of climate damage. Sound economics matters more than catchy slogans.
Burnham is carrying out a major political power play in front of our very eyes, in the mother of all democracies.
He has no mandate.
We must have a General Election. Britain needs Reform. ๐ฌ๐ง
A healthy democracy shouldnt force millions of people into choosing between two dominant voices. A voting system that reflects how people actually vote would produce broader representation, richer debate and more collaboration. Better decisions come from hearing more perspectives
@Lucyearthwise "Hundreds of brand new homes for Sudanese families" is a claim, not evidence. I can't find Basildon Council or the Home Office confirming it. Nor any evidence Gavin Callaghan "rushed" planning for the reason you allege. If you're making factual claims, please cite sources.
Treating legality strictly as proof of morality ignores history. Some of humanity's greatest injustices were entirely lawful when they happened. The question isn't simply whether something is legal, but whether it's just.
Fishing communities were told Brexit would leave them better off. Instead, many have ended up dealing with more paperwork, more barriers to trade and more uncertainty. The measure of any policy is whether it improves people's lives, not how well it was sold.
