Ditched the crowds for a ramble along along the Cotswold Way this weekend. Age-worn hollows led me to Belas Knap - a neolithic long barrow. No encounters with the wights, unless that old woman sat smiling at me by the chamber entrance knew something that I didn't.
Some "fairy grindstones" from Clun Museum, Shropshire, UK - a local name given to spindle whorls discovered in ancient sites.
Upon returning to the car, found this little chunk of pyrite on the car seat. The car was locked. We have no idea where it came from! Fairy gold? ๐ค
The Black Country. Proud regional area of the UK with some fascinating heritage. And a haven for one of England's oldest dialects.

Visited @snowshillmanor yesterday. Tucked away in a lush and verdant valley in the Cotswolds, the house contains the extraordinary lifetime's collection of Charles Wade. Surprising, eccentric, and oh so slightly creepy. I adore this place.
A grisly legend from the Clent Hills, near Birmingham. The site of the murder of a young Anglo-Saxon prince, St Kenelm's well is hauntingly beautiful and a place of pilgrimage

Been working on my review of Evil Roots, a collection of botanical horror stories from the 19th and early 20th Century. I adore how the editor is Daisy Butcher. Perfect choice for a book about killer plants!

Located on the Slea Head near Dingle, County Kerry, Gallarus Oratory is surrounded by stunning scenery. Believed to be 1000 years old, the Oratory is the last intact building of its kind in Ireland.
