@USAMaritimeX@gCaptain@Mar_Ex Not enough attention is being given to ship maintenence & repair overall. It's certainly not as sexy as shipbuilding but it's what will keep capability at sea for the future. If all the new construction comes to fruition, we'll need significantly more M&R capacity.
Responding in crisis. Saving lives.
The @USCG and good Samaritans assisted 42 crew members aboard life rafts following a vessel fire on the research vessel Rem Andes, ~100 NM south of Grand Isle, LA, on Monday.
A Clearwater C-27 Spartan intercepted the mayday call, joined by an ATC Mobile HC-144 and NOLA MH-60 Jayhawk crew. Good Samaritan offshore supply vessels safely transported all crew members to Port Fourchon. The fire is out, and commercial salvage is underway.

People. **People**.
Hereโs the deal. Iโve said it before. Iโll surely say it again.
The communist party of China is a fascist, totalitarian, technology-infused communist dictatorship.
Any technology you buy from them. Any technology you sell to them. Will be used against you.
There's big opportunity for yards like this in ship repair & maintenence, too. Lots of focus on shipbuilding but those vessels will also drive the need for repair capacity.
The surprising obstacle facing a booming RI shipbuilding firm https://t.co/qkZKu5KhKl
Today, we pause to remember the 17 Sailors who were killed and the 37 who were injured during the terrorist attack on USS Cole (DDG 67) on Oct. 12, 2000.
We will never forget their sacrifice and the crewโs bravery as they conducted more than 96 hours of sustained damage control to save their ship.

One of the best nights of aurora I've ever witnessed โจโจโจ
- from Marquette Michigan on the south shore of Lake Superior
Top photo facing south
2nd photo 2nd cam facing north (all sky)
3rd photo facing north (all sky)
All from Michigan in my backyard.
On this day, October 10, 2024
As you look at all sky 360 photos, imagine yourself looking north over Lake Superior standing at the bottom of the frame. Look for the big dipper to get a sense of scale (it got a bit obliterated by the intensity of the aurora and the field of view is enormous). Imagine following the light pillars up and overhead (which is mid frame) and turning to the south to see the scene composed in the first photo. Hard to put into words how spectacular an auroral event like this is.
@PrideOfDetroit About the same. Rewatched the game today. The offense was better. The slow starts need to get fixed. The defense is still bad. They played an inferior offense.
@AntSpeaks You become the biggest metal band in the world by making kick-ass music. You stay that way for decades by remaining true to the fans and continuing to do what got you there. ๐ค
Metallica frontman James Hetfield took a swipe at artists who use their concerts to lecture audiences about politics during the band's Las Vegas residency.
In what could easily be seen as a dig at the likes of Macklemore, Hetfield told the crowd:
"Unless you live in Vegas, you've come a long way to spend some time with Metallica. We're grateful for that. Your travels, the money you spend, the time it took, thanks for coming to celebrate with us.
And I just gotta say, Metallica is not here, like some other entertainers, to influence you with their bullshit. We are here to forget about all the outside shit. Metallica's agenda is love, energy and heavy music, baby!"
Hetfield has rarely spoken openly about his politics, but past interviews suggest he holds many conservative values.
On Joe Rogan's podcast in 2016, he explained how he'd moved his family away from the San Francisco Bay Area, having grown tired of what he saw as its political intolerance and elitism.
As a Metallica fan, this is incredibly based! ๐ค
