@404paigenotfnd If you have an ereader and have been trying to read print, you could try switching! I also love taking a hot bath so I’m forced to put my phone aside.
@EveUsername And I’m not disagreeing with you there either. I think there’s just been this steady rise of people not wanting movies or books to depict these things period because they find those things unsavory to engage with, and the quoted tweet is an example of that.
@EveUsername@404paigenotfnd Race and racism have been entwined in the horror genre for centuries. To remove scenes depicting racism within those stories is to completely undercut the message of those same stories. Just because a Bad Thing is depicted in art does not negate the necessity of that art.
@oncloud_e@chemistress42 What state are you in? I lived in Alabama in 2012/2013 when I got my name changed legally. I wasn’t required to provide much reasoning and was also able to get my birth certificate updated. Not sure if the policies have changed since then but worth a shot!
So far for my 31st birthday today I have gone to the gym, taken both cats to the vet (they’re fine), gotten lunch, and taken an hour-long nap. And I say, without a hint of irony, it’s been a pretty good damn day so far.
