Today, I received a phone call from the President, who told me that he had issued an unconditional pardon for an Alaskan who was unjustly stripped of his rights because of dangerous and ridiculous EPA regulations and overzealous prosecutors. On the eve of America’s 250th birthday, when we celebrate freedom and liberty in our nation, this is great news for one patriotic Alaskan’s own personal freedom and liberty. 🇺🇸
One year ago, the Working Families Tax Cuts Act became law. I call it the "Alaska Opportunity Act," because it’s full of wins for Alaska: growing our economy, creating jobs, cutting taxes for families, improving our health care system and strengthening our military & Coast Guard.
Senator @JohnBoozman and I had a fantastic day in the Valley, first touring Mat-Su Microgreens, a great small business founded by Ken Hoffman, who offered us a taste of some of his freshest produce. We then joined a roundtable discussion with many of our incredible farmers and ranchers. Senator Boozman is chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, which means he writes the so-called “Farm Bill” that comes up every five years. This was a good opportunity for us to give the Chairman input and feedback from Alaskans on challenges our growers face, like navigating USDA programs, and what policies will be most important to include in the upcoming legislation.
Thank you, Senator Boozman, for working with me to prioritize Alaskans’ needs, thank you to all the Alaskans who joined us, and thank you, Ken, for the great tour! 🧑🌾
Schumer Shutdown Episode IV: Chuck Schumer and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Votes Against Alaska
Senator Schumer is the most anti-Alaska Senate Leader in history.
One of the most disturbing parts of the Schumer Shutdown is the hundreds of votes he has cast against our great state. When Schumer has been in power in the Senate, he has been an unmitigated disaster for Alaska and the good-paying jobs our state needs.
Alaska has the most veterans per capita of any state, yet has never had a state veterans cemetery—until now. I joined U.S. Under Secretary of Veteran Affairs for Memorial Affairs Sam Brown and Director of the Alaska State Office of Veteran Affairs Verdie Bowen at the groundbreaking recently for Alaska’s first ever state veterans cemetery, located in the Interior—something we’ve been working on together for years.
Construction is expected to be completed by October 2027. I can’t wait to come back to see the finished resting place of honor for our veterans who sacrificed so much on our behalf.
Another big project that is driving the Alaska Comeback is the Cooper Landing Bypass Bridge. I had the privilege of visiting the project alongside my good friend, Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Peter Micciche. The Juneau Creek Bridge is about more than just infrastructure and good-paying jobs for Alaskans—it’s about connection. This bridge will cut the travel time between Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula. We are getting Alaska moving again!
It was an honor to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Interior Alaska Veterans Cemetery, a long-overdue tribute to the men and women who have served our great nation.
This milestone has been a true team effort from the very beginning. As a veteran myself, I understand deeply how much this project means to those who served and the families who stood faithfully beside them. We as Alaskans join together to take care of our veterans—this project serves as a meaningful and lasting step in honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans, not just for today, but for generations to come.
We don’t just talk fisheries legislation—we get it done!
I just introduced the Bycatch Reduction Act, an updated version of bycatch legislation I introduced last year and an expansion of my Alaska Salmon Task Force Act, which was signed into law four years ago.
My bill is the most comprehensive bycatch legislation ever introduced in Congress, with three clear objectives: protect Alaska’s ocean habitat and fisheries, make bycatch monitoring and reporting more transparent, and reduce bycatch and habitat disturbances.
These measures will improve the long-term sustainability of the fishery resources so many Alaskans rely on.
Schumer Shutdown Episode III: Chuck’s Pride & Prejudice
No Senator has shown more animus and discriminated more against Alaska Native people and Alaska Native Corporations than Chuck Schumer.
Great to stop by one of Fairbanks' oldest businesses, Samson Hardware, which has been serving the community since 1904!
I enjoyed talking with owner Mike Pederson about the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs in Fairbanks and across Interior Alaska, and how we can continue to help supporting our amazing small businesses.
The Cooper Landing Bypass Bridge project is one of the biggest infrastructure projects Alaska has ever seen. It took 37 years to get the EIS for this project—the longest in U.S. history, which shows the broken state of our federal permitting process. I’m glad to have led the fight to finally bring this project to completion.
I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to get this bridge built—specifically Mayor Peter Micciche, Bridget Monahan with Traylor Bros, and Marcus Forkner with the Alaska Department of Transportation, all of whom joined me for a site visit recently.
This year’s NDAA is a grand-slam home run for Alaska! I secured 56 provisions and a historic $2.6 Billion for our great state—the biggest military construction budget for one year that we’ve ever gotten.
One part of the NDAA is a bill I introduced called the “Alaska National Guard Rural Community Revival Act.” This legislation directs the Pentagon to develop a plan to revive the Alaska National Guard in Rural Alaska— including reopening, investing in, modernizing, and staffing the infrastructure and armories in Rural Alaska that were and are so important to defending our nation and keeping our communities and state safe.
Julie and I had a wonderful time at the annual Anchorage Pista sa Nayon—a great celebration of Filipino heritage and culture. The Filipino American community makes so many contributions to Alaska and also has a long and proud history of service in our military. One of my top priorities in the Senate is ensuring the U.S.–Philippine relationship stays very strong. Mabuhay!
Schumer Shutdown Episode II: ALASKA STRIKES BACK
Last summer, we passed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. Senator Schumer and his Democrat colleagues went through it, line-by-line, to try to strip out everything good for Alaska. We fought back and beat them on almost EVERYTHING!
My life has been so blessed by the examples set by my father, Tom Sullivan, and my father-in-law, Bud Fate. Tom and Bud both served our nation in the military, worked hard, gave back to their communities, and were partners in life for decades with the loves of their lives—my mom, Sandy, and my mother-in-law, Mary Jane. Julie and I miss them all very much. Never forget, every day is a gift. So, today, be sure to tell your dad you love him, give him a hug, or call him if he’s far away. Happy Fathers Day!
A big congratulations to the graduates of the Alaska Military Youth Academy! The resilience and tenacity you demonstrated throughout this program is something to be truly proud of. And a big thank you to the teachers, family and friends of the graduates who helped make this milestone possible!
Schumer Shutdown Episode I
We’ve reversed the Biden “Last Frontier Lock Up” and we are on a path toward the Alaska Comeback. But one threat we keep facing in the Senate? The Schumer Shutdown.
The Minority Leader of the Senate, Chuck Schumer, has been the most anti-Alaska Senator for nearly half a century, opposing bill after bill that would help our state. I’m fighting back every day on behalf of Alaskans.
