@OgaNlaMedia From what I observed in this clip and some other match clips from Game Week 1, some match venues donβt have proper match day branding. No Euromatch NPFL pitch-side banners. How do we know this is a top-flight match? The league body has to do better
Itβs like Propel, like EuroMatch, you know? The moment Nigerians hear an announcement, especially when government is involved, everybody focuses on the announcement. But when government works without proper oversight, it drives me crazy.
When Propel was announced, everybody was focused on the announcement. The press was paid, and nobody asked the basic questions: Who are Propel? Where are they from? What do they do? Have they existed before now?
The same questions should be asked about EuroMatch.
This company does not seem to exist in any meaningful way. They donβt even have a website that is up and running until now. We are being told the website will become active tomorrow, yet these are the people who are supposed to be sponsoring the Nigerian Premier League.
Then everybody hears the money, $7.5 million for three years, excluding the commission for the facilitators, which is about 20%. That leaves us with about $6 million, and 50% of that will be split among 20 clubs.
Is this really the change the league is looking for?
Then you also have to look at the ambush marketing that could come with this. EuroMatch claims to be a betting company. So what happens when it comes to clubs like Remo Stars, Ikorodu and others that already have betting partners as their front-of-shirt sponsors?
Well, we are here. We will see.
As usual, Nigerians are always quick to get carried away by the news and the press.
