As a beef farmer myself and strong supporter of Maryland’s #1 industry, agriculture, I strongly oppose the Governor’s “Meat Out” initiative. This proposal represents a misguided attempt to shame consumers and undermine an entire sector of Maryland’s agricultural economy.
If the administration is serious about supporting Maryland agriculture, it should focus on strengthening local food systems, expanding markets for farmers, and working collaboratively with producers—not promoting initiatives that threaten their livelihoods.
Annapolis could learn a lot from Maryland farmers, starting with living within your means.
