🏛️ Last weekend, senators joined visitors on Parliament Hill during #DoorsOpenOttawa to see the progress being made on the Parliament Welcome Centre and learn more about the future of Canada’s Parliamentary Precinct.
Senators @SenatorRobBlack and Bernadette Clement met with conservation specialists and learned how the Parliamentary Precinct’s landscape will be renewed using climate-resilient plant species adapted to future conditions.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by! 👋

On June 6, 1944, Canadians landed on the beaches of Normandy and helped with the liberation of Western Europe. This year marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy, commemorating this tragic period of world history and honouring the brave men and women who tragically lost their lives. Lest we forget. @SenateCA@VeteransENG_CA
Last Sunday my Dad and I travelled to Elimville United Church, near Exeter, ON to participate in the documentary screening of “We Lend a Hand: The Forgotten Story of Ontario Farmerettes”. The church was full and included six farmerettes and one Boys Brigade member. The red truck used in the documentary was also driven by Mickey Rooney in the 1979 movie, The Black Stallion. If you’re in the Ottawa area this weekend, the documentary will be shown on Sunday afternoon at the @OttawaArtG, as part of #DoorsOpenOttawa.
Earlier this week it was great to catch up with friend and former OMAF/ OMAFRA colleague Norris Hoag and Carol Hoag while they were in Ottawa. I enjoyed showing them our beautiful @SenateCA building and chamber. Thanks Carol and Norris, for the visit!

As part of the @FoodDayCanada Good Food Innovation Awards visit we had the opportunity to see a very small selection of the @uofg archival Canadian Cookbook Collection. Thanks for letting us see and ‘touch’ these rare historical documents! #AgricultureAndFoodMatters
