I sat down with ABC Radio National to remind this country to get used to Truth-Telling because I'm not going anywhere.

These figures I obtained through the racism inquiry are staggering. I'll be following up at Senate Estimates next month.

No more cops investigating cops.

Shackling of people who are giving birth must be banned once and for all.

Burke just announced visa overstayers will be put in detention.

I guess Albanese must have felt left out of the “lock them up” frenzy sweeping the country.

Labor are caving to Hanson, demonising migrants, and dragging this country towards an ICE-style system.

Shame on them.

Lidia Thorpe was brilliant on #afternoonbriefing 💃🏻👏🏼

Spoke graciously and lucidly on the effects of Pauline Hanson’s verbal attacks on First Nations people, on the PM and his mother, on the cohesion and harmony of society at large.

Senator Lidia Thorpe has introduced bills to Federal Parliament to end two harmful practices in criminal legal systems across Australia: the strip searching of children and the shackling of people during childbirth.

I have just sent this letter to Channel 10.

No one should see violence against their children or community being celebrated or joked about.

These are two innocent children who were horrifically run down and injured by a grown man.

Channel 10 did nothing to stop false information and the celebration of violence from spreading on their Facebook page.

This is not ok!

An important visit to Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health and Community Services today, where we met Julie Tongs and the team. Real community controlled Aboriginal services deliver on the ground to our people. They are under-resourced, over worked, under staffed but still open each day to serve our people. Thanks for having me you mob, there's a lot of work to do and I am standing with you.

A future where they won’t watch their Country being destroyed. A future where their families will be given the opportunity to not just survive but thrive.

A future where we can finally live the way we were always meant to.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

Today is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. On this day we are meant to be celebrating the achievements of First Peoples around the world. But for so many of us, our lives are spent resisting colonial powers.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

I want to see a future where younger generations will be able to enjoy their Land without needing to fight profit-hungry governments and resource-thieving companies.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

We are hearing from Kind Enterprises that racism itself never seems as offensive as the calling out of racism.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

Player Peter Hood says kids should just be kids and should not have to face this racist abuse on the field or in their lives. Sometimes, Fitzroy Stars players wonder whether they should play for mainstream clubs instead to not be targeted as much.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

Marissa Williamson-Pohlman, the first Aboriginal woman to represent this country at the Olympics for boxing, says that institutions celebrate Blak excellence when it is convenient, but abandon us when it matters most.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

Fitzroy Stars players were targeted by racist abuse during a game in February, but the Northern Football Netball League tribunal handed down a not guilty verdict. That is devastating to players and the community - there are no consequences for racist abuse.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

Truth-telling should happen in every state and territory, as well as on the federal level. It just depends on whether governments are brave enough to make it happen.

[Senator Lidia Thorpe @SenatorThorpe]

I asked about how Treaty can address how the state keeps perpetrating Genocide because at the moment, the systemic issues are not yet tackled. We heard from Co-chair Djaran Murray Jackson that hopefully, chapter treaties might be able to address health, justice, housing and other areas affecting our people's everyday lives.

The racism inquiry is now in Melbourne for its two last hearings. Today has a key focus on media and sports, but we're starting off with Gellung Warl's (the First Peoples Assembly) appearance this morning. Follow along here:
