NEW: With Ontario’s Bill 7, a frail elder in hospital can be discharged to a LTC facility 150 km away…or be forced to pay $400/day.

So…how would this impact that frail elder who only eats when their spouse comes in to feed them, if the elderly spouse can’t drive?

New: further to my story yesterday, Long Term Care Minister admits hospitals will be able to bill patients thousands of $/wk if they refuse to go to LTC chosen for them. New legislation allows a placement co-ordinator to "authorize admission to a home "with or without consent."
