I’d like to thank all Libertonians for having entrusted me with this sacrosanct duty. I hope I’ve lived up to it. I also wish to thank the many colleagues from both parties with whom I’ve been privileged to work over these years. I leave very much content with our progress.

With election season fast approaching, I’d like to make it known that I intend to retire at the end of my term. Serving as Liberty State’s senior senator for 4 terms and as the leader of Senate Democrats has been the honor of my life. We have achieved much.

It seems Democrats have regained control of the senate. This is excellent news. I will be retaking the mantle of majority leader come next week and we will work hard to pass quality legislation for the American people.

It’s been 16 months since we took office, so what’s been going on at Interior? Why, I’m glad you asked! Here’s an overview of just a few of the many achievements we scored over these past two terms.

The voters have given President-elect Kushner the mandate to govern & we accept that. However, it’s also clear they want us to continue to work in bipartisanship as we have actively done in recent years. It is imperative. I’m hopeful that our incoming president recognizes that.

Although the Senate is technically tied, as it had been for the past year, the tie-breaking vote remains with the President of the Senate. We will soon have a new person in that office, @BrianFribergBC, so Republicans will have a narrow majority in our chamber.

That is significant, as this new administration will have a trifecta in government, so we Democrats will have limited oversight of its policies.

I will be stepping down as Maj Leader — a position soon to be taken by @FranklinWestSA — and take up the mantle of Minority Leader.

I will await the polls’ closure before I make further comments. Nothing yet is set in stone, after all, but the media’s projection of my victory tonight seems to be in order.

Thank you Liberty for granting me a third term as your senator. And thank you to my team for continuing to work for our great state.

Although I’m humbled to have been re-elected, I am also sad that my good friend and colleague @BillHarrisonLC will not be returning to the Senate.

With that said, I wish to warmly welcome @DavidRFGTA to Liberty’s congressional delegation and to the Senate. I’m hopeful that he will live up to his predecessor’s legacy, which is indeed a tall order. We have a lot of work ahead of us and I am confident he will contribute much.
