We're on the pond every winter from the age of 3. Also, these top players spent most of their careers developing in Canada prior to signing to an NHL team, not in the US.

There are more teams in the US solely because there is 10x the population, therefore a larger market and more money. The fact that Canada dominates in hockey with 1/10 the population just further exemplifies their dominance.
