I've worked on this legislation since 2018 and when it's signed into law, Illinois will become the first state to return state-owned land to a Native nation, correcting an injustice that dates back over 170 years.

My bill authorizing the state to transfer land back to the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation passed the Senate in May. With the House’s approval last week, the measure heads to the governor’s desk for his signature.
