@bphillipsonMP@theipaper We agree with you on this one point - all children deserve the best start in life. This is why your attempts to punish SEND children failed by the state sector for trying to access their "best start" outside the sector, is truly shocking and shameful. Heartless
@anaboultertv@TiceRichard@bphillipsonMP She is here to destroy private schools and any child who gets hurt in the process, special needs or not, is collateral damage. It's hard to believe she is a mother
“What’s going to happen to our primary school children in 20 years’ time when we have a generation who have not had their educational needs supported and we expect them to cope and function in society? We are always kicking the problem down the road.” https://t.co/kfy0sko8FF
“What the government doesn’t want to recognise is that for disabled people like me, independent schooling didn’t just unlock equal opportunity; it was, quite literally, my salvation" #EducationNotTax

@Sureena4WNE Additional learning support sessions for children with SEND are now also subject to vat . Do you maintain that it's fair? Is it possible that children in the private sector may be equally disadvantaged / lost / neglected? Or do they not matter at all?
Teachers humiliated pupils at top academy that refused reasonable adjustments for children with SEND saying “no exceptions”. One mother said: “Teachers yelled and even swore at students. They took pleasure in having power. It was psychological abuse.”

Children’s development ‘put back by years’ due to failure of SEND system
“The result is that young people, & their families, don’t get the help they need & lose vital weeks, months & years of education and development as a result...”

Really excellent questions on EHCPs. Hopefully @bphillipsonMP and @educationgovuk
can publish clarification. A lot of parents struggling to work through the treacle pond without joy on this.
@SenSchoolsGuide@EducationNotTax
Our Legal Team’s Maria Bloom is quoted in this piece which highlights the staggering figure that 98% of cases decided by the SEND Tribunal go against LAs - showing just how often families are forced to fight for the support their children need and are legally entitled to.
All of this, the system is broken. Placing disabled children into mainstream schools will not help an overstretched system either, but this seems to be the new mission. SEND children have a right to an education that helps, not traumatises them and their families.
Sadly, I fear this is one of many similar stories to appear over the next few months. Our heart goes out to the little boy. BBC News - Derby: Parents upset as autistic son faces school move - BBC News

Insiders say local authorities are already receiving applications for Education Health and Care plans from parents who can no longer afford private school fees https://t.co/ZqKZGUdMyd
Since being elected, I've been inundated with parents who are struggling to get their child the SEND support they need. No parent should be prosecuted for the failings in the school system, particularly where it comes to absence linked to SEN.
The huge rise in applications for EHCPs (Education, Health & Care plans) will continue until we find the courage for a root & branch rethink about our whole approach to children’s education - one driven by what we now understand about neuroscience & neurodiversity! @BBCr4today
