Venezuela excels at:
• Slogans.
• Performances >> like burning US flags.
• Speeches.
• Marches.
• Salsa dances at political events.
But when actually attacked, most won’t fire a single shot. Instead, many will embrace the “gringo” they saw in Hollywood movies.
Of course > Many will simply carry on with their lives in day-to-day survival mode, while some will quietly welcome the US assault or aggression, hoping for a green card or some benefits from the wave of American tourists looking for an alternative to Tijuana.
I never bought into the “five-million-man militia” or the “libertad o muerte” slogans.
In the end, it’s the Venezuelans’ choice and I respect that.
I’m just highlighting the incoherence and the sad reality of a nation losing its sovereignty and dignity.
Some will call it betrayal. Others will call it pragmatism.
Writing this doesn’t make me happy.
I’m sure Chávez, wherever he is, wouldn’t be happy either.…to say the least.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran issues a warning suggesting it could cut undersea internet cables and cloud infrastructure in the Persian Gulf - Tasnim
Dozens of major submarine fiber-optic cables run through the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz (at least 17 systems in the broader area per analyses).
Key ones include systems like AAE-1, FALCON, Gulf Bridge International, EPEG, SMW5, and extensions of 2Africa Pearls.
Together with Red Sea routes, these carry a huge portion of global data traffic—estimates range from ~17-30% for Gulf-specific segments up to claims of 95% on certain Asia-Europe-Africa corridors.
They support internet, cloud services (Amazon, Microsoft, Google data centers in the Gulf), finance, and AI projects in the region.
🇦🇪🇮🇷 Senior UAE official Reem Al Hashimy says the UAE was building economic powerhouse while Iran was investing in weapons development
And she is right. Iran is now a regional superpower while the UAE has lost everything overnight.
“We are everything that they’re not.We used our oil wealth to build an economic powerhouse. They used theirs for nuclear programs, missiles, drones, proxies. We became a responsible global player; they are a pariah state. They underestimated us.”
