WAKEONE announced that Sanghyeon has been diagnosed with a vocal cord polyp after experiencing throat discomfort. As a result, he will undergo surgery on Wednesday, August 5, to remove the polyp.
After the surgery, he will be able to carry out daily activities and light exercise, but he will need to rest his voice for about three weeks, following his doctors’ recommendation.
Therefore, Sanghyeon will be on hiatus from all official activities from August 5 to August 22 to focus on his recovery.
After August 22, he will gradually return to activities depending on his condition and his medical team’s advice. Voice-related activities, such as speaking and singing, will resume gradually, so he may still have some limitations at first.
WAKEONE also stated that they will continue to work closely with his medical team to support his full recovery and ensure he returns in the best possible condition.
