Printing, folding, piercing the sewing holes and the sewing itself are all done, so the easiest (not fastest) part is done! Now I have to print the endpapers and glue the signatures together.
Typesetting is done! Once the design looks good, it's just rinse and repeat for all the other chapters, which usually doesn't take too long. The book will actually be 300 pages, which is much longer than I expected. Next step is printing and folding the signatures!
I think The Imitation of Christ would be a good choice for the first project. Just have to figure out a good-looking design system for the various elements of the book.
The more time I spend on this, the more respect I have for your work @uncle_deluge. Doing this in raw XML probably requires levels of patience I'll never reach lol
“Be assured, ye who seek that true peace promised to a future life, that you may here enjoy it by anticipation, if you will but love and keep the commandments of Him who promises this reward; for you will soon find by experience that the fruits of justice are sweeter than those of iniquity. You will learn that the joys of virtue, even in the midst of trials and misfortunes, far exceed all the delights of pleasure and prosperity accompanied by the remorse of a bad conscience.”
—St. Augustine
As someone who went to film school, movie nerds have this weird idea that the more niche the movie they like is, the more intellectually advanced they are
I’ve seen them put movies with obscure, unpronounceable titles and zero mainstream appeal in their top 5 just to stand out
“The rational creature was made for this end: to love above all other goods the Supreme Being, inasmuch as it is the Supreme Good. Clearly, then, the rational creature ought to devote his entire ability and his entire will to […] understanding and loving the Supreme Good—to which he knows that he owes his existence”
—St. Anselm of Canterbury
